Without warning or explanation, Barbecue Lodge at Mini City Shopping Center, has closed permanently after about 30 years in that location. The restaurant is dark, with "closed" signs on all the doors. Some speculate that the Health Department shut it down; this is unconfirmed at this time- they did have a 12/30/2016 inspection with one issue, but a score of... More

The buffet was great. Love eastern North Carolina vinegar based sauce. The food on the buffet was fresh and warm. 10.49 was the price per person and that is very reasonable for the items on the buffet. If you come to the south don't expect beef on a barbecue buffet. I will be back on our next visit to Raleigh.

We went on New Years for a traditional diner. The restaurant met the requirements for the required items. The food quality was OK, but not really exceptional. The decor is a little plain. The restaurant was clearly understaffed, even for a buffet. Things were a little slow to say the least. The hush puppies were the best part, fresh and... More

It is just what you expect whwn you walk in, good comfort food. Its Southern style, and plentiful. Quite tasty. Save room for pecan pie

Pick up window was busy on a Saturday afternoon, ordered enough for about 8 people, received in a Very timely manner. Staff was friendly and helpful. Food was the same as I have always remembered, been living in the area 35 years. Brunswick stew was a little heavy on the tomato sauce, but that is the only thing I can... More

Thr fried fish is the best I've had in ages. Home cooked. The peach cobbler is good. The homemade pork skins are delicious The fries are mediocre. The serve was fast and food nice FRESH and HOT. I recommend "The Lodge" as my family. Affectionately calls the establishment.

We have eaten here multiple times in the past for our family reunion and this was the 41st reunion and we should have skipped this place. Majority of our group ordered the buffet and the food was horrible as if had been reheated multiple times, dry, tough and most of all it lacked any flavor at all. Most things on... More

I have lived in Florida for 3 years now but when I am asked about food I ALWAYS talk about the Barbeque Lodge. When I come home, I stop here before I see my family lol! This is NC at its best. The portions are huge and the prices are great. I am homesick already!

I had visited this place multiple times prior to this visit over the years and sadly things in the food department have gone downhill - badly. I should have been suspicious when the buffet was $10.49 with drink for dinner (Sunday). The wait staff was nice but very tried from a big function and was cleaning up our entire visit.... More
