We've gone here several times with friends for dinner and always enjoyed ourselves. Usually we'll order several of the small plates and 1 large plate to share and everything I've eaten here has been tasty!

My fourth time at BuKu was as good as each of the other three times. The restaurant specializes in the finest examples of street foods found around the planet. The ramen was made with a 24 hour shoyu brith, crispy pork belly, wakame and slices of pork. Rich and satisfying, served promptly, we walked away very happy.

Good locale for a bite to eat before a performance. Pad Thai was good, priced at $23. Probably wouldn't go back, not because of anything wrong. It just wasn't outstanding or memorable in any way.

Four of us stopped in for lunch on a Saturday before a matinee show. It is a certainly an upscale place with outside and inside seating. We chose inside and were one of the few at 12:30 pm but by 1:30 there were several more parties. The hostess was not that friendly but our waiter was friendly, helpful and provided... More

Food was awesome. Sunday Brunch was very good and they had a large selection of food. Would definitely visit this restaurant again.

I've done plenty of fine buffets in my time, and while BuKu's Sunday brunch is no Bacchanal at Caesar's, neither is it Golden Corral cattle-feeding either. A nice assortment of sides and salads of varietal cultures, and a superb omelet and waffle station highlight their best offerings. Must say I was surprised that there was nary a seafood item in... BuKu's menu is divided into small plates, entrees and bowls. On my first visit, I sampled two of the small plates: sweet potato pierogis and vegetable dumplings. Both were delicious. I also ordered a bowl of pad Thai which turned out to be easily big enough for two meals and the best Pad Thai I've ever eaten. The restaurant is... More

three walking blocks from the Duke Energy Performing Center, Memendi Hall, etc., and I thought I was in New York. Delicious small plates, artistically displayed. Reasonable prices even for wine.. New York restaurant decor. Check out the bar with it's wall of water. My new favorite spot before and after performances. Easy parking in Red Hat building next door.

Came here for an afternoon “snack” after work on a Thursday. In translation, that means consuming $50 of food and $200 of drinks! And everything was superb! The Hawaiian tuna poke, pork dumplings, and Chinese steamed buns were all fantastic. But enough of the appetizers! The real star of the evening was the 23-year-old Ron Zacapa rum! It was the... Excellent Service, delicious food, beautiful decor. Plus free valet parking, which if you are familiar with parking in downtown Raleigh you know is a big plus. I ordered the vegetarian Samosa Pot Pie, which was delicious and tasty without being overly hot and spicy. Not easy to find such good vegetarian fare. My husband ordered the Pho and also enjoyed... Description
Located at the corner of Wilmington and Davie Streets in the heart of downtown Raleigh, bu•ku is a local restaurant that tells a global story. The name "bu•ku" itself is an international slang twist on the phrase, "Merci, beaucoup" meaning, "Thank you very much." Inspired by the pushcarts of street vendors across the globe, our chefs harvest an array of unique and distinct flavors and present them authentically, in a virtual kaleidoscope of plates. The common link: these are foods that people love. Working within different regional traditions, our menu brings together complex and flavorful dishes that have been honed over generations. Foods like Polish pierogis, Colombian arepas, and Thai barbecue prawns served in a banana leaf with green papaya salad can be found on the street corners of Warsaw, Bogota, and Bangkok. We strive to convey the immediate thrill a traveler feels eating foods like these as they first cross over the cart and exchange hands into the urban setting.
