My husband likes fish roe and eggs so every time we're in this area, we come here for breakfast. Well, that's not the only reason. I love their breakfasts too - they have a lot of items to choose from as well as a breakfast buffet if you prefer. I tried something different from my usual, the Whaler, this morning.... More

We have a vacation home in Duck and in the off season I like to try restaurants that I would not drive to in the summer traffic. First time at Dunes. Very good traditional food. Nothing on the menu that I couldn't pronounce or had to Google. (Probably why the dinner crowd tonight was a little on the "older" side.)... More

I'm a local and have been going to the Dune's for breakfast forever. The breakfast is always delicious and price well. I love the omelets and great grits..

We were treated like royality when we showed up. Waiter was fun and entertaining and gave us first hand optioins on what was good to eat. Main tip, go during the off season.

Having no power in our vacation rental due to Hurricane Matthew, we ventured out with very low expectations. This place, however, impressed the entire group. Except for what we were told was a larger than average crowd, you would have no idea the storm effected them. Everyone we interacted with was cheery and polite. They offered suggestions on things to... More

The Dunes has always been a favorite of mine for breakfast. We've been coming to the area since 1970's and my first time at this restaurant was around 1975. It continues to be a great value for the money. A 3-egg sausage omelette , 3 large hot cakes and huge order of hash browns only $6.99. As much as I... More

The wait was too long elsewhere, so we gave this a try. Our server was friendly, but a little overwhelmed by our party of 10. My flounder sandwich was kind of skimpy. She crab soup best part of the meal.

We stopped here on the fly for a late breakfast. The poached eggs were amazing and the hash browns were divine. We also enjoyed the pancakes. All in all, the meal was very good.

Always good service, crepe like pancakes, takes a little longer for your food, but worth the wait. Very nice store located inside restaurant selling home decor and ladies accessories.

Description
This local, Outer Banks restaurant is now in it's 34th anniversary season. That's probably why it's called a 'Nags Head Tradition' by locals. Open for breakfast and dinner daily. Weekends - spring and fall - and daily in the summer season, there's a robust fruit and breakfast bar plus some whopping good breakfast platters. Specialties are real southern cooking - like fried chicken. Also a specialty - local, Outer Banks seafood - broiled, fried, and always good. Steaks and prime rib round out the dinner menu. The "R" Bar is great for a late night meal or a special drink. And if all this isn't enough, there's Roxie's Retail - great, flirty finds for your home or wardrobe. It's a family run organization that is glad to welcome locals and vacationers alike.
