I thought my family was in for a treat according to reviews. Man was I wrong. The wait wasn't that bad...should have been my first clue. After we FINALLY had our drink order taken, it took the food over half an hour to arrive. If the food was good...I might have overlooked that. But the food was terrible. It shouldn't... More

Mako Mike's is one of the most eclectic restaurants I've ever been to. The food was sub-par, but the atmosphere made up for it. This restaurant is definitely more for families with children. The portions for the food were large, but not very noteworthy. Definitely worth a visit, but not more than once!

Our first night and a Saturday night there was no wait time, which was nice. The food was good, I had the fish tacos that had a nice spice to them. The fried fish platter was also very good, you get a lot for you money.

Decor fun, service excellent, food disappointing, not a good value...that pretty much sums up the Mako Mike's dining experience. You would think that for a beach restaurant the seafood would be of higher quality, but it seemed no better than the frozen, heated-up stuff you get at Red Lobster. (Everyone's scallops were particularly overcooked, and some of the other seafood... More

The food at Mako Mike's was delicious! I had a Caesar salad with mahi and it was wonderful! There wasn't just a little mahi, but it was full. Their cornbread and sourdough was great too. The atmosphere is whimsical at best, corny at worst. But we weren't put off by it. We actually enjoyed looking around. The multiple levels in... More

My family and I ate here recently and had a great meal. My kids both enjoyed their meals, and they were treated very well by our server. All of our food was great, and the service was excellent. I would recommend the restaurant to anyone visiting the OBX. The members of our party ate fried oysters, grilled mahi tacos, grouper... More

Every year we vacation in obx and always stop at mako mikes for the cool theme for the kids but sadly the food and service has gone down over the years.

Looking at other reviews, it seems like some have really bad service and think that the décor is cartoonish. Actually we had really good service and yes, the décor is a little over the top, but it's the BEACH - what do you expect. They are trying to attract families with kids and I think that it was entirely appropriate.... More
