This was stop #1 and I went back a second time for afternoon coffee. Coffee is the best I’ve had. Atmosphere, baked goods, service, etc were a step below some of the others. It’s still worth the stop if your just getting coffee. I’ll go...back.More
visited Front Porch Cafe 5 or 6 times during my stay in OBX. It is a great coffee shop and I think is pretty much the only local coffee roaster on the island (don't quote me on this).
I had a bit of a weird...approach from the barista when I ordered their Nitro cold brew the very first day I was there. She tried to sway me from getting it by telling me that it might not be something I'm accustomed to. Well that's weird considering I "grew up" with nitro cold brew from La Colombe in Philly, since probably 2010. I was really nice to point that out and to say that I am ok to try it, but the barista continued to be really rude to me. Long story short, I didn't actually like their nitro cold brew as it had a bit of a weird aftertaste.
I did however try other coffees on subsequent days, from regular cold brew, to hot, to lattes. All were excellent! No other run ins with the rude barista either.
I picked up a few packets of beans before going home and all were also excellent!
As well as the pastries that we had for breakfast.More
We went to Front Porch Cafe because our hosts had listed it as "the best coffee in Kill Devils Hill" in the guidebook they left us.
I think they were right! It was very close to our Airbnb so we walked on over and were...glad we did. The coffee was great and the atmosphere is nice. It is wheelchair accessible, which was a plus for our group. And the YOGURT - the yogurt was amazing!!!! Wish I was close enough (when not on vacation) to go back and get some more!!
The space is connected to a paint your own pottery place. It would be fun to go in for coffee and stay to paint. :)More
I went with my Mom to grab some coffee and a breakfast snack before we headed to the beach to watch the sunrise. It was perfect. She got a pumpkin spice that legit had a nice pumpkin flavor. It wasn’t like the fake Starbucks taste....I got the mocha and it was delicious. We automatically got these cool to-go cups that stayed warm the whole time while drinking it. I got a plain bagel and asked for a lot of cream cheese...and boy did I get a lot of cream cheese! It was awesome!! Mom got the ham and egg croissant and she said it was really good. They were quick with the order and very friendly. I even grabbed some quick merchandise because the coasters were way too cool looking!!
This place is perfect for the breakfast on the go for beachy sunrise watching.More
