We stayed at the Sanderling, and wanted to have dinner somewhere we could walk to and from. While the Sanderling has a few restaurants of their own, I felt like they were a bit on the expensive side. I saw that the Paper Canoe had wonderful reviews and an enticing menu, so we decided to try it out. And boy,... More

I had heard this place was pretty good, but for the price, I was underwhelmed. I had the fish with couscous and it was okay, but one of my fellow diners complained their steak was not cooked correctly. Also, the beignet dish was very disappointing, especially for how expensive it was

We were so disappointed by this restaurant. Service was not that great and the food was pretty disgusting. Both of our entrees were swimming in thick purees of some sort and nothing about the dishes and sides seemed to go together. It was the last night of the season and it literally felt like they dumped whatever ingredients were left... More

Never been to the Outer Banks. Awesome food at the Paper Canoe. Service was a 10+.Meal which included appetizer, entree and of course dessert was perfect. Atmosphere was soothing-right next to the bay. There was nothing I did not like!

We were looking for a nice restaurant for a "better than usual" dinner. After reading several reviews, we selected the Paper Canoe. Great choice. We enjoyed the Oysters Rockefeller southern style, and fresh tuna and swordfish, with a bottle of Sauvignon Blanc. Service was top notch - attentive, but not overly so.

We met a friend there for dinner and the meal and service were outstanding. We started with the pork belly and cheese bread appetizers. Two of us had the tuna special and the third had the crab cakes. The food was fantastic, looked beautiful and most important, tasted wonderful. Our server, Kara, was very knowledgeable concerning the menu choices and... More

The food here is created by wonderful chefs and current specials are offered daily. My friends and I were seated in the front room but it's dimly lit. Our server turned on a lamp in the corner but we still had to use our cellphone flashlights to read the menus. The creations from the kitchen are amazing, but the presentation... More

We had an great experience at Paper Canoe during our recent visit. A family member stopped in to pick up a salad to go and was very impressed by the restaurant so he made a reservation for the following evening on the spot. Since he was coming back with a party of 8 the following night, the owner told him... More

This place is small so make a reservation. It's on the water so ask for a window seat. By far the nicest restaurant in the area. I had the swordfish and my husband had the pork ravioli. Both were delicious. The staff was also very helpful and friendly.

We wanted a place to eat dinner and watch the sunset. We got just what we wanted and the food was delicious. No wait for our table for two by the window. The crab cakes were some of the best I have had. Our waitress Cara was delightful.
