I always enjoy eating here and trying their updated seasonal menu items. Today I dined with two colleagues for a meeting, the restaurant was far more crowded than I've ever seen for lunch which was good to see, and it was still a nice quiet...More

This is the best Easter brunch in the Cary, Raleigh, Durham area. The food is amazing - charcuterie, gourmet soup and salad, grouper, beef tenderloin, crab Benedict, elaborate dessert display, and more. Make reservations early. Service is usually spot on, but this time it was...More

Beautifully presented, delicious food. A perfect compliment to a Spa Day at the Umstead Hotel & Spa. Light delicious fare or hearty - the steak was fabulous!

After reading the reviews and hearing about this restaurant for many years, we went for a birthday lunch with another couple. We were rather disappointed. The food was mediocre and the service was less than stellar. We understand the chef who was so good has...More

Heron's is an expensive restaurant. It can easily cost you $200 per person. So if you chose to treat yourself to this over the top experience, be prepared to mostly ignore the cost. From the vibe the evening we were there, it is either a...More

My husband and I had the four course dinner with wine pairings at our anniversary. The environment is quiet, romantic and the service is just pleasant. The food and wine pairing were delicious! The little palette cleansers served in-between courses are just adorable. We enjoyed...More

If you have not eaten At Herons for the holidays you are missing out. The service is always great and my family loves the food.

I would agree with those who say that this is not a good restaurant for kids. It might be OK in a private room, but unless your children are unusual the food at Herons would be wasted on them. In all seriousness, you might... More

Herons delivers a dining experience that is both refined and relaxed. Led by James Beard Semifinalist in 2016 and 2017, Executive Chef Steven Greene, the expertly trained staff warms the room, providing seamless service that helps guests enjoy the pleasures of an elegant meal. The main dining room offers a full view of the kitchen, while floor-to-ceiling windows let in plenty of natural light and overlook the terrace, lawn and wooded lake beyond. In addition to the 98-seat main dining room, a semi-private dining room seats up to eight, while the private dining room accommodates 12 and showcases pottery by North Carolina artist Ben Owen. Outdoor seating invites al fresco dining in the spring, summer and fall. The neutral palette of the décor in Herons provides a sophisticated, yet understated backdrop to the bright and inspired flavor combinations artfully presented. The dinner menu changes seasonally and draws heavily on produce harvested from The Umstead’s own sustainable farm. The exceptional quality of Herons’ wine list been recognized with a prestigious “Award of Excellence” from Wine Spectator.
