I found this place on Tripadvisor and expected the high prices but also expected much better food for those prices. I had the Bunny Bites appetizer which was very good then had the Mixed Grill (because I wanted to sample a variety of game meats). The Ostrich was excellent, the Bison and Elk sausage was okay but the duck was... More

Celebrating an anniversary, we selected this highly-rated restaurant based on TripAdvisor feedback and comments from friends. Plus they allowed us to take our dog and be seated outside. Everything started fine - we were seated at 7p in a corner on the deck. Beautiful 72 degree evening. After taking our order, the waiter offered to bring some wine samples. These... More

Gamekeeper is tucked away through winding roads between Boone and Moses Cone Memorial Park. We went here for our anniversary dinner and it was amazing. Game sampler for appetizer is a must, 4 different meats (elk, boar, duck and bison) enough for 2-4. We split a salad and entree, portions were large and they were kind enough to let us... More

My wife and I celebrated our Anniversary with an outstanding dining experience at Gamekeeper. We started off with an appetizer of Pheasant, Elk, Bison and Ostrich. It was fantastic. We then had the breaded salad, it had grilled shrimp an array of fresh vegetables....the dressing was incredible. For the entrée we had the Elk, with bleu cheese macaroni. The Elk... More

The Gamekeeper enjoys a great reputation, but in my opinion fell far short when we visited. I had Duck and the preparation was poor and the size of the portion was very small especially when considering the price. The sauce on the Duck was supposed to be Cherry, but tasted more like a nondescriminate BBQ sauce. On the other hand... More

Loved the variety of food. My 12 year old daughter loved the Elk, rabbit and pheasant. I had the Bison that was delicious and my brother had the lamb. It was all great and the deserts were incredibly large and quite tasty. Atmosphere was awesome. Loved this place and will visit again if we return to the mountains.

So many fabulous reviews on this place that we were very excited about going. The drive there is beautiful, and upon arrival, the restaurant itself is so gorgeous. Beautiful views and friendly, professional staff. We were fortunate enough to sit on the deck and watch the sunset while having drinks and cocktails. So relaxing and nice. The food was disappointing... More

In the finest restaurant, there is usually something that could be just a little better. Not true at the Gamekeeper. At our table of six, everyone ordered something different and it was unanimous, five big ones. Elk, perfectly juicy and tender, pheasant, better than I had ever tasted. A perfect blend of seasonal veggies for those who abstain from meat.... More

This is a great restaurant if you are looking for something besides the usual. Local foods including game such as elk, ostrich, buffalo and rattlesnake. Good service and nice dining experience. Have been a number of times. Nice mountain road up to the restaurant.
