About
Sangam Indian Cuisine - Whitianga’s only authentic Indian restaurant has been serving people in the town since 2004 and continues to lead its way as a popular local Indian joint in town. The restaurant seats 82 diners inside, while another 12 seats in the outdoors are highly popular in summers. We guarantee fresh high-quality meats bought from the local butcher. We do not use colouring agents in our food, so there is no orange looking curries or meat. Our preparations are authentic and prepared in Indian style. You can either choose to dine with us or take away a meal. Most of our curries are unique to us, whilst the restaurant also does some modern Indian food, such as the Lamb Shank Curry

Pretty average. First thing I noticed when we went in was the dirty floor and windows, but thought ah well, the reviews are good. Sent our rice back as it was cold and the rest of the food was Luke warm and not that great....Felt like the service wasn't that interested in the feedback - we wouldn't go backMore

Atul and the team were amazing. We were holding a conference in Flaxmill Bay across the waters for just under 100 people. I emailed Atul and the team a week before, He was very professional advising me on which curries and sides would be best,...and also how could we cater to our special dietary requirements. We ordered 48 curries, naan, rice, and sides and all of this was ready on time and delivered to the Whitianga Ferry Wharf so that our team could come across, pick it up and go straight back. Saved the 40-minute drive around. People on the ferry even commented on how delicious the food smelt coming from the boxes and wished they were coming with us. The goat curry was amazing as well as the lamb rogan josh! Our dairy-free and vegetarian people also commented on how flavorsome their curries were. Thank you so much, Atul, and the team at Sangam for being so professional and great to work with. On top of that, the food was outstanding.More

We had dinner here before and it was always tasty and nice but last night wasn't. We were lucky to still get a table as the people after us were unformed it was at least 45 min to an hour wait. And that was correct....The waitresses were kinda uninterested and nobody told us that there was going to be a wait. When the food finally came we only ordered 2 mains and two Naan from the "express" menu the plates weren't warm there were no spoons on the table and the food got cold really quickly. The butter chicken was nice and the chicken nicely grilled but the other chicken curry was a bit blend. Sorry we really had better and faster and the whole experience could have been a lot better it only the waitresses cared a bit more. Maybe informing us a couple of times how long the wait was going to be. We won't be back soon.More

I wouldn’t recommend visiting here if you value your time on earth. 5 of us visited here on Saturday at 7pm, we seen the place was half empty and expect quick turn around, little did we know, there is no concept of time here. 1...hour and 15 into this marathon we had only received some popadoms. We finally got the mains after 1 hour 30 into restaurant, to which i must say was disappointing. Food was bland, we got 4 different curries and only 1 had any flavour to it. Also every so often smoke will fill the room from the kitchen, i do struggle to understand why as there was no food coming out at these times. Wont be back.More

Staying locally a short walk away, my wife and I decided to grab some takeaways. The suggested option from a couple of local friends was closed, but fortunately Sangam was open. The food (butter chicken and lamb saagwala and garlic and cheese naan) was really...filling and with a 30 minute wait on a phone order, was pretty fairly priced and quickly prepared. The restaurant looked fairly busy with only a couple of spare tables at around 8pm.More

We came to Sangam for dinner on Christmas Eve. Food was amazing with fabulous friendly staff. Also lovely to be served by owner. We shared an entrée of battered scallops, delicious lightly seasoned batter. Mains were Butter Chicken and Seafood Masala, 10/10 for both dishes....Garlic Naan according to husband best he’s had. We will definitely come again when in Whitianga.More

I might be biased as am a bit of a regular, but the title says it all. The staff are always friendly. And, when not overly busy, the food comes out fairly quickly.
