An evening at the Emerson Spice Tea House is a multi-sensory experience. You sit in a small pavilion perched atop the hotel, with views over the rooftops of Stone Town. As the evening progresses, the sun sets, filling the sky with oranges and reds. For...many minutes, the evening call to prayer echoes from all sides and dozens of mosques. After the call to prayer subsides, snatches of music and crowd noise drift up. Meanwhile, the air is filled with the smells of spicy cooking, both from the Tea House’s own kitchen and from fragrant Stone Town. And then there’s the food. It’s prix-fixe: five exquisite courses, the first four seafood, the fifth a desert. Plus wine to accompany. It’s all absolutely sublime. If you’re in Zanzibar, you’d be a fool to miss this.More

We had dinner on the rooftop, overlooking Stone Town. It was a price-fixe 5-course dinner. Each course was unique - unique in the sense that we hadn’t experienced those dishes before. Each dish was tasty, fresh and beautifully plated. The service was excellent. It was...very refreshing to see the quality of the dishes offered and the level of service. We felt it justified the expensive price of the dinner.More

the rooftop floor sitting offers great views of the historic Stonetown. The vegetarian platter is filled with delicious stewed spinach, vegetable curry (i enjoyed it greatly and i hate coconut milk), delicious falafel. Dad tried the vegetable and fish platter, delicious kofta. The Limonana mint...lemonade so refreshing.More

Our first night in Stonetown, we went to a rooftop dinner at a sister hotel to the property we stayed in. We had a beautiful sunset view. The food was delicious and the meal a bargain -- I'd totally recommend it.

What an incredible sundowner evening. Listening to the beautiful call of prayer through the city and watching the sunset was lovely and moving. We had a wonderful meal and service and the chef even checked in with every table after the dinner to see what...our favorite part of the meal was. We were so welcomed and felt like we belonged. I was even learning Swahili from the restaurant manager. It was a wonderful experience in a historical hotel on the rooftop. Be sure to book reservations before you go.More

My girlfriend and I visited Emerson Spice Tea House in June 2022. It was the most amazing evening. The food was absolutely delicious and the service was excellent too. We enjoyed 5 fantastic courses and several great cocktails. The waiting staff took the time to...explain each of the dishes to us, and gave us fascinating insight into the local cuisine. We arrived a little early and enjoyed a cocktail with the rooftop entirely to ourselves as the sun was setting. This was amazing. I’d like to especially thank Abdul who really made the evening extra special with his great, friendly service.More

My wife and I ate there for their 7 pm dinner, with drinks at 6 pm. The food was wonderful, with many great flavors of Zanzibar, and delicious drinks. Beautiful scenery and sunset on the rooftop. The service was the best I’ve had in Zanzibar,...a special thanks to Abdul our waiter who did an excellent job. I’d say this is a must for anyone coming to Stone Town - be sure to make reservations ahead of time!More

We had lunch for two here. The view from the restaurant is quite lovely. Although the food was good, there was only a choice of two tasting menus. It was too much food and too expensive for lunch. The service staff was very accommodating.
