The food was great. The view was breathtaking and the overall mood very pleasant. I wanted to give this place five stars as it deserves it however, we were the first ones to arrive there at dinner time. Drink menus were handed out and three other couples/families had arrived and been served before the waiter took our order. Despite the... More

When you walk through the doors into Emerson Spice it is as if you step back in time, enveloped in the exotic ambience of a time past. The merchant's house is filled with antique furniture, plush fabrics, high beds framed with netting, heavy carved doors and curtained balconies that allow for the evening breeze to float through the rooms. The... More

Dear Vangovender, Thank you for your compliments! I'm so glad you enjoyed exploring the wonderful old Merchant's House that is now the lovingly restored Emerson Spice. The Secret Garden is, indeed a hidden oasis! Retaining the Swahili Architecture designed to keep the building's interior cool, we only have Air Conditioning facilities in our Guest Rooms, discreetly hidden from view! Why... More

We had our last lunch at that restaurant before departing the island. It was a GRAND finale for us. The food is insanely delicious and their chef must be a wizard of some sort!!! Totally worth the money! Highly recommended to try at least once if you're a "fin gourmet"

Had a delightful dinner on the rooftop of the Emerson Spice hotel. Quiet and restful with excellent service and great food. Make sure to make reservations as it has only a few tables but the waitstaff is fun and excellent as our the views and sounds of the city.
