Best sandwiches in Syracuse. I work near by and go here for lunch often and have never gotten or sandwich that I didn’t like.

Decided our family would try this place out while we were in town - good decision. This is a really cool sandwich place that changes their menu every two weeks. The staff is super friendly! We called our order in and it was ready just...as we arrived - on time. We tried the French Onion Soup and it was very flavorful and not overly salted like too many places make their soup. We also tried the ‘It’s No Spring Chicken’ sandwich which was a Parmesan & Rosemary crusted chicken breast topped with melted provolone cheese and served on Pasta's stretch loaf with fresh baby spinach, "frizzled" red onions & a sundried tomato aioli. Very tasty! We also tried the ‘One Hot Mama’ sandwich which was a Virginia-baked ham & seasoned, shredded pork topped with Pepper Jack cheese and served on Pasta's stretch loaf with creamy coleslaw, Siracha-spiked "frizzled" red onions & hot pepper mayo. Also very yummy. Finally we tried the Mediterranean salad which had Artichoke Hearts, Roasted red peppers, black olives, garbanzo beans & feta cheese served over a bed of fresh spring mix with a side of creamy balsamic. Well prepared! We were very pleased with each of our selections - each was fresh and very tasty and flavorful. We will definitely return again!More

We had to take a road trip from Rochester to Syracuse to obtain a Covid shop at the Fairgrounds. Darwin was recommended to us by a family member. WE WERE NOT DISAPPOINTED. It is in a small space in the Chase Bldg on West Fayette...St. The place is peppered with some very interesting memorabilia. We sat at a yellow Formica table right out of my grandmother’s kitchen! Let’s get to the food....we both had a pastrami/cheese sandwich that didn’t disappoint. The chocolate chip and peanut butter cookies are loaded! Absolutely delicious! They are homemade. If you still have room in your stomach, get the luscious homemade brownie!🤪 The owner came over to visit with us and explained that they had been closed for 6 months due to Covid and they are trying to make a comeback. The staff is so very personable and you really feel a sense of home. 3 weeks later we returned after our 2nd shot and the owner called me by name. How he remembered is beyond me. This time I had a HUGE salad with fresh chicken breast and homemade dressing.......I’m drooling as I’m writing this😜 Everyone is so positive and friendly and very welcoming. We can’t wait to return and eat outside this summer🌞 By the way, we left with a couple more homemade cookies..... You must try this place and be sure to wear stretch pants😜More

Got a great crap sandwich at this super lunch diner. Crap was very tasty and balanced in the sandwich. Only thing was that it was a bit too big, but it's a general issue eating in the states.

After reading so many great reviews, my husband and I stopped at Darwin for lunch on a Friday. We ordered a muffuletta sandwich and Darwin's version of a French dip. Both were OK but nothing special. The staff was very friendly and the place attracts...a loyal following, but--since it's not around the corner from us--we don't see what all the fuss is about.More

Referred by friends, we really enjoyed sandwiches at Darwin. Located in downtown near office complex, but mainly open for breakfast and lunch. Portions are big, the menu changes daily. There are four recommended menu on the board and anyone of them is excellent. The owner's...family and staff and very friendly and helpful. Clearly our new favorite sandwich place. We will return.More

Went to Darwin for lunch today and was pleased to see they had a lobster roll on the menu today. It was very good and larger than a typical lobster roll. Price wasn't bad either $17. Menu changes constantly and their choices are excellent.

This quick service delicatessen offered a variety of locally sourced food. Often challenging its demographics and local suppliers with its versatility. Order at the front menu that it consistently changing brings fresh a whole new meaning. I don’t think anyone can continue to rave about...the same thing because like this world it is ever changing:) the poyboy was outstanding as was the catfish sandwich:) parking sucks:(More

Coworkers and I ordered from here this week. I have been here before. The menu roasters weekly. It was very hard to pick a sandwich but ultimately I went for the When Doves Fry that had Purple Rain sauce on it. Two Prince references ,...sold! The Purple Rain sauce was sriracha and grape jam. It was on fried chicken breast on a local bakery bread. It was the winner of the 2017 Best Sandwich Ever Award and it was well deserved ! I got to try two sandwiches as my boss was willing to do half and half. Highly recommend spot if eating in Syracuse. (Plan on takeout, not much room to sit)More

I think it is a pretty long walk from SU. A car would be better.
