Located just outside Tarrytown, a mere 30 minutes north of Manhattan, Santorini is a fresh fish destination at non-Manhattan prices. To say the least, it is imo the best local quality/prix fish restaurant - rivaling Aquagrill for the sheer number of fresh fish options available...but at half the price. Note: few outside tables although it was empty at two recent lunches. The restaurant itself is humble letting he food speak for itself, which kicks off with a quality hummus and a seasoned cut up pita, gratis. Service is efficient and the owner is on hand to take your order and make sure you are a happy customer. Note #2: did not try any of the wines offered (I was driving). In sum, when eating at Santorini, it is very easy to imagine sitting on the Island of Santorini, at a small local taverna, soaking up the beautiful sunshine while feasting on the catch of the day etc. YpérochoMore
This place is great! Each dish was amazing. Service was a little slow but that helped us eat more. Everyone was friendly. The lamb and bronzini were so tasty. We ate outside so felt very safe. Greek wine was fun. Would love to return.
Just found this restaurant a few weeks ago and have been there 3 times already. The Bronzini is so light and flavorful, just like it’s supposed to be! Lemon potatoes are delicious. Hummus is great and desserts are delicious. Octopus fantastic too!! Have enjoyed every...item each time and brings me back to being in Greece with fresh Mediterranean cuisine! Highly recommend for food that’s simply flavorful and fresh.More
Because my family was scattered this year for Greek Easter, we decided to invite friends to go to this Greek restaurant I had heard about in Sleepy Hollow, New York for dinner. Two of the four of us walk with canes, so we were so...happy to hear they had valet parking! Well, it all began with no valet parking! My husband had to park the car in a parking lot four uphill blocks away. The walk down after parking and the walk up after dinner took a toll on him!
We were seated immediately and ordered drinks. The best way I can describe the rest of the meal, is this: Appetizers:
Dolmathakia - delicious!
Spanakopita - a thick package of frozen spinach between sheets of filo
Lobsster Bisque - unrecognizable!
Saganaki - soaked in ouzo! Awful (for $10.95!)
Dinner - Pasticcio -tasteless with a gritty bechmel sauce/gyro dinner - tough etc.
The food was simply awful. We asked for it all to be packed up as we were embarrassed to return everything to the kitchen. When we all got home, we tried to warm it all up and try again, only to throw it all out!
The only wonderful hing about the place was its wait staff! Darling "Junior" was our charming bus boy and Gabriella was our new to this country delightful waitress.
I know this sounds terrible, but we have never had an experience like this before.
It did not help that I come from a family of restauranteurs and are Greek and know what fine Greek food should taste like. We will never return!More
It’s a little out of the way, down a side street in Sleepy Hollow. Nothing fancy, but the fish is fresh, the wait staff are friendly, the portions are ample, and the feeling is that of a small seaside village. All that’s missing is the...zither. All the familiar standbys (moussaka, souvlaki, pastitsio...)and some not so familiar as well. A mildly exotic wine list. Oh, and those sweet and sticky Greek desserts. A good choice when you’re in the mood for a leisurely ethnic experience. Like momma might have made, if momma were Mediterranean.More
