We had a good dinner at the Courtyard. The food was very good by bar/pub standards, with good burgers, club sandwiches and grinders/hoagies. All of the side salads were homemade (macaroni, potato salad, etc,) Good selection of local craft beers and nice lively, homey atmosphere....Located right on Route 17 close to the center of town in Roscoe, the perfect place to end a day of fishing or hunting.More
You can sit at the bar or in the cozy dining room with the fireplace - warm weather you can sit outside overlooking golf course. Great food, great service. Unfortunately, they don't open until 12pm so if you are traveling through before that it won't...work.More
The Courtyard is the prototypical upscale roadhouse. In the sportsman’s' hamlet of Roscoe, New York, it's rustic and woodsy, but updated and clean. Be sure you're comfortable with taxidermied critters of all kinds watching you eat (Roscoe is a hunting and fishing town). In the...good weather, the back deck had a beautiful view of a serene golf course which is great when you feel like quiet or great local bands when you feel like rocking.
We usually eat at the bar, where Jen is fun, friendly and efficient. The fare is classic pub but offers enhancements like homemade soup (the corn chowder and onion soup are both great). The burgers are among the best I've had, BIG, juicy but not greasy, beefy tasting and made the way you order them. The fries are exactly what I like, a gentle crunch on the outside with a thick, hot center. Supplementing the bar is a pool table and (I guess, not my thing) some kind of gaming/lottery system. As mentioned in other reviews, Courtyard is popular with locals and the good music, good food and road side location on a beautiful byway make it a popular spot for bikers. Depending on the timing, you can visit Roscoe Brewing Company across the street and sample their locally brewed Trout Town beers and ales.
If you're lucky enough to have Roscoe as a regular destination like us, or you're just passing through, we recommend Courtyard as a classic taste of the vanishing, unspoiled Catskills.More
