Just what we were looking for

Skala is the perfect mid-range restaurant. Great location with a sea view, clean and plenty of character. The staff couldn't have been better, friendly, quick and not over-attentive. We shared a delicious salad as a starter. My moussaka was maybe a bit bland, but well cooked and satisfying. My companion said his catch of the day (red snapper) was delicious. We got complimentary small desserts and the bill came in at around €75 including cocktails and wine, excellent value.

FANTASTIC Food

The food here is incredible. We had the moussaka, spanakopita, shrimp salad, and grilled sea bass filet. Everything was amazing and we agreed it was the best food we’d had so far in Greece. They let us sit wherever we liked (it’s a 2-level restaurant). After a few minutes it became very windy, and the staff went out of their way to move us to the least windy table while still ensuring we had a view of the water. The staff was very friendly, saying their “heart was warm” when we told them how much we loved the food :) compared to other restaurants in Oia, this place is affordable while still offering a very nice atmosphere and delicious food.

Festive birthday dinner

Since we had a fantastic experience in Skala (2013, before it moved the location), we decided to celebrate my son's 30th birthday. We booked a table, mentioned the birthday and arrived specially from Kamari quite early, the restaurant was not busy at that time. We were recommended some dry rosé, which came served not cooled. We ordered tomato balls, imam, seafood linguine and sea bass fillet with rice, zucchini and carrot salad, tzatziki and bread (the last two never arrived!). The first meal, meze, tomato balls were served after 1 hour and they were amazing. It took another 40 minutes before we received our meals, imam, which was extraordinary in terms of taste but cold and linguine, average, again cold. My son received his fish after another 10 minutes, bland taste of the fillet and totally disguisting freezing cold salad without any flavour. Basically unedible. However, the team was aware of the problems, apologized many times and at the end brought my son a complimentary chocolate cake. What to say. Nice place, nice people, but really pathetic service in our case - during these 2,5 hours people around us were served, left, new customers came, were served, left,... I am really sorry to write this, we love Oia and are mostly very easy going, but I would expect another attitude knowing it is someone's 30th birthday.

1) Came for lunch for a salad and a glass of wine. ONLY bottles served. I left. Staff was not friendly. There are much better and friendlier restaurants who appreciate your money (and I have eaten at most of them) 2) Even Worse: Very few people on Oia have been vaccinated and the wait staff told me they had not. But they either were NOT wearing a mask or their nose was totally exposed. (They are required by Greek Law to wear masks) Don't risk your life eating here

Dear Bobby, we try to be in your shoes and we are really so sorry about your review… We do serve wine in glasses (not bottled). We are also extremely alarmed by your statement regarding our safety measurements: 95% of our staff is vaccinated against Covid-19. We use antiseptics (evident in all areas at our restaurant) and our staff is obliged to wear masks. We will investigate for sure, although we have no other complaints about that. Please rest assured we have addressed this with the team. Thank you for taking the time to express your opinion upon our restaurant.

Went there for a lunch with my boyfriend, we ordered the fava, a greek salad, octopus and the moussaka. The fava and the salad came first and after we finished we asked why is it taking so long to get us the other dishes because we are running late and the first thing the tha waitress was told us is that she “already has our bill”. We told her that anyway we weren’t planning on going without payment or anything and that we just need to keep up the pace…. She was very nervous and unkind and didn’t even asked if we liked the food. She just started to tell us that this is how all restaurants are working and that we have to pay (after we declared that we aren’t planning to run - even tho we should have at this point haha) I went to the restroom and when i came back i saw her arguing with my boyfriend again(!!!!!) and he didn’t even called her to the table or anything. A few moments later the food came and we ate super fast because the experience was so intense and we just wanted to leave, so we asked for the check and told her that the food was good besides the fave which was absolutely bad. She started arguing again and we asked her if there’s anyone we could speak to (manager or anything) and she told us this is just her and chef who is “resting right now and can’t talk to us). We told her okay and paid our bill, then she became super nice and asked us why aren’t we stay for ice cream (no apology or anything lol). We told her that the food was good but her service was very unkind and she just told us goodbye. Stay away. Rly.

Dear Shira, so sorry for your unpleasant experience at our restaurant. We understand your disappointment. Let us tell you that in Greece, bill is often brought automatically when the waiter thinks you've finished OR if his/her shift is coming to an end. Please rest assured that we have addressed this with the team (about all this misunderstanding). We appreciate that we cannot get it right all of the time but would hope that when we make a mistake, we really try to rectify it during the customer's visit, to ensure that they leave us feeling as happy as possible! We really hope to see you soon in the future.

We ordered a few starters and 2 mains to share. The food was very average and not particularly tasty but we ended up paying €30 per person with wine and lots of food so price is decent. Friendly service.

My wife and I enjoyed a few evening drinks and dinner at Skala, staff were lovely and the choice of table location better than most other restaurants in Oia due to its size. You have the option to eat inside, on a covered terrace or on their rooftop; of course booking is advised. I enjoyed the spaghetti bolognese and my wife the seafood linguini; both meals of good quality and portion size. Cocktail prices are 10 Euro. And thank you for the complimentary baclava; beautiful.

PERFECT DINNER SPOT

This is a well established restaurant in Santorini that offers great food (huge portions) and a perfect spot in Oia. The patio was beautiful and the service was perfect. It is pretty hard to choose a restaurant in Santorini, but look no further. With complimentary dessert and amazing food, you will love Skala. The servers wore masks and everyone was properly distanced as well.

Restaurant Looks good but isn't (solo traveller)

So the first thing i noticed was that how beautiful the restaurant looked when my food came it tasted pretty blend (moussaka) and the waiters literally ignored me (not even eye contact) and they gave me the feeling that once i was finished i should immediately ask for the check and leave. the only thing that i found good was the dessert. so in a nutshell service was bad main dish wasn't that good dessert was pretty good

Genuine Greek Mediterranean Taverna

Skala is a genuine greek taverna with a few “gourmet” touches. The food is tasty and 100% value for money. There is a small selection of Santorinian wines and a big selection of greek plates. The environment is cozy and friendly. Service could be better but when the taverna is full (as usual) …service is not so quick anywhere!!

mid-afternoon meze

We enjoyed a mid-afternoon meze of dolmades (stuffed grape leaves) and domatokeftethes (Santorini style tomato fritters), along with local wine and beer upon our arrival in Santorini, while waiting for our hotel room to be ready. A welcome introduction to food in Santorini. The food was excellent and we enjoyed the gorgeous view and a nice breeze sitting under a canopy of pink bougainvilleas.

Nice Option in Oia

This is nice restaurant tucked away in Oia with a main dining area and a terrace. The service is great and the food was delicious. Although you don’t have an open view to the sea it is still worth while. We enjoyed the friendliness of the server and the pricing is affordable in comparison the most restaurants.

We had something to eat here after wandering through Oia. Great views and the food was delicious. We hadnt really expected that since all of Oia seemed to be overpriced overtouristy and not enjoyable. We had kebab, filled wine leaves and Tarama and it was very nice

Popped in for a drink while on a whirl wind tour and got treated very rudely

Arrived at Skala on Santorini on a very hot humid day last week around 1210, the place had newly opened we assumed as it was empty. The lady server offered us to a table and put down menus which contained drinks so that was fine. She left us for quite a while then eventually came back and when we started giving her our drinks order she took a total huff, One of our party asked for a plate or bowl of Fries (bearing in mind we had a total of 1 hour from drop off to pick up so our rush was real) as a quick snack and she said, they don't do fries (which they clearly did as they appeared on the menu elsewhere), My daughter asked for apple juice which again we were told they never had, incredibly hard to believe, everywhere we went in Greece has apple juice. The lady and other serving guy started grabbing up plates, menus and openly grumbling as they did it, to the point my wife asked her if she would prefer we leave, she said no so we stayed but it was totally clear we were not welcome there. As far as we were concerned if the woman had asked us if we wanted food and or drinks when she showed us to our table she could have asked us politely to move along and no harm done but instead upset our whole party. And to provide balance, the food that came out looked and smelt amazing, the view was breath taking but all that is irrelevant if you have a host that wouldn't be able to hold a job down in a greasy spoon, suffice it say we will never darken that door again.

Wonderful Food

My wife had chosen to eat at this restaurant, and on first glance, I wasn’t too keen. How wrong I was. The choice and quality of the food was excellent (my wife had smoked mackerel to start and I had cheese) and we shared bread and tzatziki (which was devine). We then followed this with Meat Balls (two balls which were served burger style) and salmon, both again were superb quality. All wasjed down with a nice bottle of Rose wine. The staff were very attentive and the complimentary sorbet to finish our meal was appreciated. My only advise would be to pass me the card machine to add a tip rather than asking out loud how much tip I wanted to add. That aside, a wonderful meal, in a beautifully kept setting.
