I'm compelled to share this review in order to caution perspective diners who may consider selecting Meehan's as their choice of restaurants while visiting Huntington village. My wife and I had decided to stop in for lunch after doing some shopping as we like to...help local businesses when possible so we enjoy the smaller mom and pop stores that can be found throughout. While we're frequent visitors to the town and live nearby, we try making a day of it and usually grabbing a bite to eat. I ordered a typical Reuben sandwich and my wife had the tossed salad with chicken. The meal itself was satisfactory though ordinary and the service was pleasant right up until the check arrived. Nowhere on their menu was there any mention of draft beer or price's and the waitress was unfamiliar with the selection available. We ordered a pitcher of Budweiser Light assuming it would be common enough to ensure it was likely on tap. We ordered a second pitcher afterward and when finished asked for the bill. It wasn't until I had a closer look that I saw they were charging us $32.00 per pitcher for a total of $64.00 for the two. Being the charge was more than half the bill, my immediate thought was they had made a mistake so I called the waitress back over to question the calculation. She assured me there wasn't a mistake and that was the price so naturally I asked to speak with her manager to verify. Please understand, when we go out to five star restaurants and Michelin rated establishments, bistro's and culinary institutions, we expect to pay the premium’s that customarily coincide with that grade of quality and service. It's expected however, when we stopped at what basically is an Irish pub (which I gravitate towards on many occasions), I don't anticipate this kind of exploitation and attitude as displayed by the manager who condescendingly suggested we don’t normally serve customers who question the bill and took umbrage that we had the audacity to even ask. I felt we were victims of a deceptive practice and then gas lighted for questioning the integrity of the pricing strategy that charges the price of a keg for two pitchers of beer in what is essentially an overblown diner. Stay away.More

I have lived in the Huntington area for over 40 years and Meehan's has been a staple for many years...that being said over the last two years this has turned into the least family friendly restaurant in Huntington...I have attempted to enjoy this town staple...multiple times and it is becoming harder and harder to give this establishment our business...today was the absolute most unbelievable experience...in a bar/restaurant with more than 20 televisions we were told by the Hostess that they could not put the hockey game on the TV, then the bartender, and then a patron who must double as the AV guy that it was impossible...so we left...15 minutes later my friend goes to the SAME place and they put the hockey game on for him...I have no other choice but to take this as a CLEAR statement that Meehan's is NOT family friendly(and for the record my kids are 9 and 11..far from babies) ...do yourself a favor and go somewhere else...there are PLENTY of restaurants that are happy to treat families with courtesy and hospitality...sorry to say but Meehan's is NOT a place we will EVER go to againMore

Mediocre food. Dirty silverware. The staff was just going through the motions of providing service. Better options exist in town.

We ate in the little alley next to the restaurant. Evenings are getting cold. They had outdoor heaters. Great. But no gas in any of the heaters. Come on now! Food average. Large portions. Reasonable prices.....except for a Bud draft at $8. Really? House wine...was also $8. Must have been an $8 special night. Riley our sever was very nice.More

Went here during covid and ate in the little alley dining area. The tables were spaced, there was a fountain, the walls were painted so pretty. It was so relaxing. Our waitress was lovely. We ordered the fish tacos and the TexMex wrap. Both meals...were very good. I can't say anything about the inside because I didn't go in. We were there at least 2 hours and no one rushed us out. It was a very pleasant lunch.More

When you walk into Meehan's and get greeted by your name with a warm, genuine greeting, you really feel welcome. It's like walking into Cheers where everybody knows your name. My wife and I live in Huntington, NY and we are regulars here. We are...not regulars at many restaurants but once you go to Meehan's a few times, you understand why this place is always busy, but never to the point where there's a long wait due to the amount of seating available. There are lots of choices of delicious appetizers and main courses with new dishes being added regularly. The drinks are generous and if you like beer, they'll bring a list as long as your arm with unique and seasonal draft beers from around the world. The bar area has plenty of room and lots of TVs to cheer your favorite team with the crowd, as if you were at the game. The back of Meehan's has a quieter area to enjoy a great meal. During the warmer weather, we sit in their beautiful outdoor courtyard with lights stranded overhead making you feel like you are under the stars. The best thing about Meehan's is their friendly, genuine staff who love to help you with whatever you need. We have become friends with most of the waitresses and waiters. Michael Meehan must have a secret for hiring the right people for his place because every one of them are wonderful, beautiful, warm, friendly people.More

I have been here a few times. The food is just okay. The burgers are tasty (not great meat quality though). The fish and chips are greasy. The noise level is very high. Not someplace you would go if you want to hear your dining...partner speak. Overrall, just okay. Typical bar food.More

We came for typical pub grub before a show at the Paramount on a Saturday evening. We were a party of four and were seated right away arriving just after 5:30. We sat in an alcove which was very interestingly decorated with a photo of...ironworkers in the city. Above the photo was a statue of the guys in the photo. It was an amazing piece. The rest of the room followed with metal topped tables and wall furnishings that fit the theme. You could see the bar and the patrons coming and going from this charming space. Our server came right over to take our drink order. We ordered for appetizers the pretzel knots, chicken skewers and nachos. The chips seemed like they were fried in house which gave them a more oily feel. However it was a large, shareable portion with tons of sour cream, salsa and guacamole. They were all arrived pretty quickly. For dinner three of us had burgers which were prepared as requested. The Katz burger was good but filling I was told, the bacon blue burger was ok with a smoky flavor and I liked my cheeseburger. Nice sized burgers...I could only enjoy half. The fries were very crispy, fresh and addicting ...they were seasoned too. I would suggest though the buns be a little less chewy. They were good and not stale just chewy. The French dip sandwich wasn’t enjoyed as much as the burgers were unfortunately. We were able to relax some after eating and before heading to our show without being rushed even though the place was filling up.More

Solid place to go to have a meal and some drinks. Conveniently located in the heart of Huntington. Went before a show at the Paramount and we ordered burgers which were very good.

I’ve tried to give meehans a few different chances but each time I leave I feel like I should have stuck to my original decision and spent my money else where. I really do not like writing bad reviews but this past visit really got...me . We were a table of 4 for brunch , the waiter kept disappearing for lengthy periods . It took 10 minutes to order a drink and when it was time to order food my friend actually had to looking for someone not take our order. I should mention that it was not at all busy. 4 of us received our food . The 4th persons food didn’t come out for 10 more minutes and was minus the side salad ordered. The next problem was that when we ordered a 2nd round one of the drinks was completely different to what had been given the first time and also took a long time to rectify. Over all the food was fine but the service was very poor. We paid our check and went to another local establishment to finish our afternoon. As a bar serving bar food I guess it’s fine but definitely not a place for group brunch or family dinner.More
