The Cooperstown Penguin Ice Cream store has an excellent selection of deserts to pick from. This place is great on a hot day.

Nice place to stop off the main drag and grab some ice cream. Have some indoor seating. Friendly staff.
This ice cream place opened under new management this summer. They’ve really improved the look and made seating and parking more appealing. Local people were excited that local person purchased the place. However local people were not excited once they found out how much they...were charging for their product. We went there once excited to support them and between the service and the prices will not go there again. This is now purely for the enjoyment of the summer baseball people that will stop there anyway. The ice cream is good.More
Penguin Ice Cream has been a staple of the entire Cooperstown experience for years. This ice cream parlor is now called Cooper's Barn, and the experience is just as good as it always was. Cooper's Barn offers custom ice cream flavors made on site right...in front of you. A new deck and seating area enhances the experience.More
On our way to the lodging place in Cooperstown, we saw a nice ice cream shop on the side of the road. We ordered ice cream and a milkshake.both were very tasty!
This ice cream shop is now called Cooper’s barn rather than the Penguin. It’s extremely convenient to Cooperstown dreams park. My daughter and I stop there at twice during the week. They have a unique process of blending different ingredients into hard ice cream so...it gives a very unique flavor! It’s kind of like a blizzard from Dairy Queen but better.More
We stopped by after a late night of baseball at Dreams Park and enjoyed some ice cream and soft pretzels. The ice cream is very good (more like custard) and is served in generous quantity (a medium cup was filled above the rim to almost...double the serving) and the pretzels were as good as any we've had. Great place for a team to meet/snack between or after games as there is plenty of outdoor seating/tables (under umbrellas and tents to shelter from heat and rain). Prices were reasonable and the quality of the ice cream/snacks were very good.More
Now called The Cooper Barn, this wonderful little business has a fresh look that is inviting and warm. Under a neat collaborative agreement, the former owner is guiding the new team to help ensure great ice cream and service continues. They just opened for the...season Friday May 24 and are ready for business! Their specialty is blending delicious flavors, ingredients, and toppings into a creamy base ice cream like vanilla or chocolate. There’s about 50 different add-ins to choose from. We stopped by last night for 3 shakes 2 coffee and 1 chocolate and a delicious serving of Fluffer Nutter- an awesome combination of peanut butter Butterfinger and marshmallow in a vanilla base - oh my goodness- so good!!!!! They also have food and drinks and a revamped patio. The only thing I noted is step up to the patio is a little high for anyone with difficulty walking and - at least in the side we parked on- there was no ramp I could see so that might be good add on for easier access. But overall delicious ice cream awaits!!More
Stopped here once, when the lines were not crazy long, and so glad we did! So many options to create your own flavors. The soft serve was also really good.
This place is not to be missed. The lines can be long but it is worth the wait. You can select any combination of ice cream ( my son had 4 flavors) and the mix it all together into one ( soft serve style) ....Soooo good! A welcome treat after a day watching Baseball .More
The worst "ice cream" I have ever had. It was grainy, very chalky, yucky, and overpriced. I got to give it to them for giving large portion sizes. Probably to get rid of it. Would have rated 0 stars if I could have. Now I...have to brush my teeth to get this awful taste out of my mouth. Glad I got a small.More
Went for an "afternoon snack" before the next ball game. Fairly short line but a little wait. Great idea. Hard ice cream served as (almost) soft. Liked the choice of flavors. ANY combination possible. Chocolate with raspberries and chocolate chips was really good. Worth the...wait.More
This was literally a 5 minute walk from our hotel (The Holiday Inn) and they've managed to create ice cream which is the perfect midpoint between softserve and regular. You pick a base and then choose one of the many many flavors I loved my...banana coconut, although I tasted far more banana than coconut. My daughter got Smores flavor and it was hard to taste all the flavors. However it was the best ice cream we had in Cooperstown and there's definitely a flavor you like with all the choices.More
Nice little spot south of Downtown. They have a ton of selections for their “custom” flavors that are added to either vanilla, chocolate, vanilla yogurt or NSA. They also charge more for the customs. Good sized portions though and friendly service.
If you are local you get a discount , great selection of ice cream, and friendly service. Plenty of parking and there are outside table and chairs, no service inside.
