This was our first visit, and it happened to be on the last night that they were open for the Fall Season. Thank you to the owners for the friendly and welcoming greeting as soon as we walked in the door!!! This is fast-becoming a lost grace in the dining world. The whole atmosphere is charming and different, in every... More

I had the occasion to have lunch at the Big Moose Station as part of the Adirondack Scenic Railroad's "Thendara to Big Moose Lunch Train". The staff is fully prepared for a trainload of people with a tasty and well-prepared buffet. They do this often, so they have it down to a science. The simple Philly cheese steak sandwiches were... We were first to Big Moose Station, when they first opened up, The train wasn't making it to the station at that time. I give the owner much credit, he works hard, the food is great. Every time we make it up to Old Forge, we make a point of riding out to the Big Moose Station. I see now... More

Since we were staying in the area, we thought this would be our next stop. Since this was a Monday night, the special was meatloaf, so we went for the special. The meat was rich and tasty but the mashed potatoes were half mashed, i.e. a little lumpy. Served with green beans, we had a nice selection. My spouse had... More

Dined on Monday for Meat Loaf Monday. Meat loaf nothing special. Mashed potatoes not mashed. Not just the new lumpy style either... just slightly mash w/ big chunks. Gravy tasted canned. Food needed seasoning. Just average dinner. Waitress Sarah friendly and attentive.

Off the beaten path but worth the trip. We went specifically for the crab leg special. Delicious meal at a reasonable price. Didn't try anything else but the seafood was quite good!

This, by all means, is some of the best prime rib we have ever had. It was cooked to perfection. Along with the prime rib was aus jus and a choice of potatoes and vegetables. When we were there it was very busy, but service was prompt and didn't seem to be slowed at all. After being seated our server,... More

This old railroad station sits right on the tracks and has views of the woods. The food is spectacular and Justin and Sarah are the best servers in the area. Friendly owner, nice bar, great porch room with tables, and music on Friday nights, which is fish and chips night! We've been several times and love the homemade everything! You'll... More

We had a buffet lunch with an Adirondack Scenic train trip - not happy! The "Philly cheese steaks" actually was grayish color with no sign of cheese and ground instead of shaved meat. They were piled all on top of each other in a warmer, impossible to pull apart and lift out intact. Caesar salad is not a good group... More

First let me say I am sorry you did not enjoy yourself. I do not usually respond to negative posts, but I feel I need to in this case. The Philly cheese steak is sliced rib eye. Cooked and chopped like they do in Philly, where I am from. The Caesar salad does not contain any anchovies. There is absolutely... More

The Station is really an interesting place - make sure you check out the old photos and notice the décor - it really is an old train station. We always enjoy dinner here and they have a varied menu - you will surely find something you like. Dinners come with a nice little loaf of bread and nice fresh salads.... More
