We always go to the Williston park location bc it's close to home. Was dissapointed bc I loved the Veal dishes esp Veal w/ Almond sauce. Bc everything was takeout then, 'all' Veal dishes NOT being offered!!
& limited dishes!
Stopped in for dinner with the family. They have a large selection of wines and specialty sangrias as expected. We tried the Watermelon Sangria which was a nice twist on a white wine Sangria. Perfect for summertime. We tried a selection of tapas. Both the...Grilled Jumbo and Seafood Stuffed Shrimp were excellent choices. The Seafood Stuffing was very tasty and and the shrimps were truly “Jumbo.” The Filet Mignon tapas was an excellent choice, very tender, cooked to perfection and a generous portion. The Beef and Chicken Empanadas were golden brown and crunchy but the filling lacked flavor. If you are looking for an authentic empanadas I would pass on this one. They compared more to a store bought brand rather than from a Spanish Tapas bar, and were not served with any dipping sauce. The Seafood paella was full of seafood but was lacking in seasoning and spices, bland at best. Judging by other tables, Judging by other tables the seafood was plentiful no matter what you ordered. Overall a good meal and good value for your money, just not the flare of Spain that I was expecting.More
Sangria 71 was recommended by a work colleague and so Julie and I went for Valentine's Day dinner. The restaurant features Spanish food and we were pleasantly surprised on so many levels. First, there were no garish posters of bullfighters on the walls--it was all...tastefully understated. Another good thing is that the tables were not on top of each other--you had plenty of room to get up and move around.
When I dine out I like to order things I would never make at home so I had a tapa of octopus with olive oil and paprika--flavorful, tender and delicious while Julie had scallops wrapped with bacon on slices of pineapple--again delicious. The main course was seafood and noodles for me while Julie had shrimp with lobster. Both portions were plenty and tasteful. Did I mention the service? Impeccable! We had Therese, by the way.
We enjoyed this restaurant several times before and came back for a birthday celebration for two for my husband. We had enjoyed the food and ambience of this restaurant before and were not disappointed on our return trip. We had Veal Osso Bucco and the...Veal Seville. Both were delicious and beautifully presented. We also shared a Jumbo Stuffed Shrimp Tapas plate, enough for the two of us. The staff was terrific and helpful, we will be back!More
Came here with another couple for dinner on a Saturday night. We've been here on two other occasions and this time was no exception. The wait time needs to be addressed. A reservation was made for 7:15pm. I can understand waiting 10-15 minutes after arrival...or reservation time but a little over an hour is not acceptable. Under normal circumstances I would have left and gone elsewhere. Now saying that I've been here two times before says a lot because I rarely return to places unless I really enjoy the food. If this was solely based on food the rating would be higher but it's the overall experience that counts. Our couple friends wanted a tapas place and the location worked best for all which is why we came to this location. The hostess apologized when finally seating us and the manager came by to also apologize and offer a sangria pitcher on the house. While the gesture and apology is appreciated, it doesn't justify that they cannot seem to keep a reservation. In addition, the server was not able to take simple instruction regarding split payment with cash and the card and could not do simple math. If not for my persistence in wanting things to be corrected, he would have been shorted a nice tip. Otherwise, they do have a nice party room inside, the drinks are good and the food is too. Lamb chops, grilled octopus, chorizo, mussels in green sauce, and croquetes are good choices. They are not known for their empanadas don't waste your time. You can never go wrong with churros if you are looking for something to share but they do have a variety of desserts as well. Handicap accessible for those that need it. A fire pit and outdoor furniture when you first pull up. They have valet parking. I do consider my time valuable and it can be frustrating when others don't value my time especially when paying for a service. Disappointed for the third and last time with lack of keeping a reservation. I did not write a review the first two times but felt it necessary to mention this time.More
I have eaten here a few times and I have been much more impressed with the tapas than the main dinner menu itself. First, the service staff and the front receptionist are very welcoming and they all do a good job taking care of you...throughout your meal. The tapas are very good and I've preferred to just order them and some drinks rather than an entree when eating here. I can't nail down one in particular as I'd suggest just give a few a try. From the pulpo to the patatas bravas and more. I'd also recommend the tres leches cake for desert, yum!More
Nine people for a birthday dinner.
Our server was very attentive and friendly, and the tapas/appetizers were quite good. The entrees were average at best, but the one thing that really ticked me off was their fake paella. What they called paella was actually just...a bowl of the same rice that came with every other dish with some seafood and chorizo dropped on top. Considering they are supposedly known for their Spanish cuisine, this was an insult to our culinary tastebuds.
Desserts featured better plating than taste.
Would I go back? Yes, but only for the tapas.More
I came here with my family looking for a new Spaniard cusine restaurant in the area, I use to frequent the one in Port Jefferson (Casa De Espana) which was in the parking lot and it was awesome but unfortunately closed.
I finally found a...replacement that does not disappoint in service, taste, and value. The service was fast, attentive and very proactive. The staff made sure water was available and always checking in if we needed anything.
We had, of course, the paella Valenciana and the marinara version as well. Wife and I had a seafood dish variety with a host of appetizers, calamari, empanadas, and pulpo Gallego which were all delicious and tasty.
To end the fwast we had the lava cake and tres leches strawberry cake with a good ole cafe con leche. Everything was cooked to perfection, will definitely come again and highly recommend.More
