Beacon had been mentioned many times to me as an eclectic little village that was an interesting. Sorry....didn't see what they were talking about. The shops are interesting (albeit way overpriced), parking is a hassle (but manageable) and parts of it are pretty sketchy (I am from the Bronx and don't scare easily).

It takes about 90 minutes on Metro North to get there, and the views of the Hudson are spectacular. I really didn't see Beacon aside from Dia and the train station, but I appreciated the easy walking distance between the two.

We've been here since 2004 when we downsized to a smaller house. There's so much to do here, whether it's window shopping on Main Street or art gallery hopping. The river front park and the long dock are great for some R&R. Love this town!

Beacon is a small city which has made many improvements. They have really done a nice job with their Main Street area. They are building a hotel and restaraunt near the waterfall. They have nice parks. The waterfront is beautiful and the people are nice.

The Beacon is a very enjoyable restaurant both for atmosphere and food. Their Sunday brunch is amazing, starting with a plate full of muffins and breads, bottomless bloody's or mimosas, and a menu that is great. The price is a little high, but got a deal on travelzoo and had choice of any entree on menu. Their portions are better... More

Uptown --this is a great find--and the wood fired pizza is fabulous....listed as an appetizer, 3 of us could have dined on that alone---which would be a great value for something so delicious! Everything else is equally good.

Mount Beacon is the backdrop for a leisurely stroll down Beacon's Main Street where you can find art objects, antiques and a variety of great food in the many shops and restaurants that line this revived Hudson River city. If you are adventuresome, make it a weekend trip and climb Mount Beacon for a beautiful view of the valley.

Had a late lunch here with a friend. Ordered a burger ($20) and Lobster platter (32.) to share. Waiter was accomodating, gracious and professional. Wonderful service, trendy atmosphere and I intend on going back for another fine experience. Fabulous place. Make a reservation-you wont be disappointed.
