Been here many times last year and was very good although at times food quality varied - been tonight and worst meal we have ever had here - has chef changed? Mussels were boiled to a point that they had disintegrated and portion was more like a starter - really disappointed , used to be a weekly haunt but not... More

Everything about our evening here was poor, the service was virtually none existent, when we did get seated waited ages to order. The food turned up it was very bland and their was a hair in one of the dinners, we brought it to the waitress's attention and she didn't seem surprised they did change the dish, but already put... Recommended to this pub by friends living in North Marston for Lunch when visiting from Oxford Friendly helpful welcome as we walked in -sadly too cold to sit in the attractive garden area but comfortable table beside old book case full of old attractive sets of old encyclopaedias. Service excellent - food good - stayed from lunch time until 3.45pm... More

This was a busy sunny sunday afternoon. The first really sunny one this year so maybe not a good time as it was very, very busy. They seemed to cope well, and the staff were very friendly and efficient but the ordering was delayed and the food took quite a while. I get the feeling on a less busy day... More

Was recommended the pub when I asked at a local hotel for somewhere with a good beer garden - this certainly has that. Stunning views for miles over the countryside, in pleasant and spacious garden. Lunch was good - nothing really special, but nothing wrong with it. Staff were pleasant.

We have lived locally to this pub for 7 years. It's had numerous owners and we have tried and been disappointed in the past. I always believe good news never spreads fast and bad news quickly travels. In my last 3 visits to the black boy the staff have been great and the food has been superb. My wife has... More

We thought we would try the pub as we had an event to attend in the village. We were rewarded with a delicious main course. Followed by equally lovely pudding, accompanied by great coffee. The portions were just right. Served in reasonable amount of time by helpful staff. Amazing to have no complaints!

Mostly good. But sometimes the food has been a bit of a let down, not always but sometimes. Staff generally friendly and helpful.
