Having heard nothing but rave reviews from friends stopping at The Jam Tarts restaurant when passing through Barrydale on the R62, I decided to try it out myself yesterday. Fantastic service, starting with the friendly welcome expressed by Sarah (the owner), through to her attentive staff and followed up by the absolutely delicious hamburger I ordered (one of the best... Hi mandyduplessis17 Thank you for your excellent review! Next time you should spend the night in Barrydale and then you can linger longer in the garden, alongside the trickling water and amongst the abundant bird life we have worked hard on attracting. The burger is a family recipe and I am so happy you enjoyed it. I look forward to... More

What a pleasant surprise to find this quaint country cafe while travelling through Barrydale on the R62. Even though stifling hot it was refreshing to sit under the slatted awning with tinkling water and misters. The staff were friendly and most accommodating while fulfilling our special needs. How they managed to juggle the number of people during the lunch time... More

On our way back to Port Elizabeth and in something of a rush! Take-away was the way to go.Squizz quickly thru the menu and without closely checking cos I really want something quick and seriously simple (big mistake) I order a cheese and ham (R40.00), a cheese and tomato (R35.00) and a bottle of water (R12.00). Bill was R87.00. Now... More

Hi Eli K I am very disappointed that you had such a negative experience at The Jam Tarts. Whilst we are a restaurant and not a take-away café, the fact that I offer take aways and along with your comments, I shall review my take away prices. Having only owned the restaurant for eight months now, there are obviously many... More

Definitely a must visit when in Barrydale. Their pizzas must be of the best I had. The owner Sarah in hands-on. You must have the jug of pimms - it's a drink to die for!! You can also rent bicycles and cycle through the beautiful valley of Barrydale.

We went here a 2 or 3 times during our long weekend in Barrydale. The pizza was fantastic and they had a great range of toppings. We had a lovely breakfast here too. Service was awesome. We will definitely be back!

Excellent fresh food, very tasty, served by friendly well informed waiter. Relaxing music to accompany the meal. If we were not on our way somewhere, I could easily have whiled away the whole day here! Not a junk food kinda place, hats off to the owner!

Hi Andre d Thank you for your great review. I am working hard on creating a little oasis for travelers to be able to revive their spirits, albeit for a short spell. A work in progress! Hopefully next time you will have more time to sit back and enjoy the trickling water and the bird song. Kind regards Sarah More

The best Pizza's on R62. Great staff and good service. Best Lime and Tequila Milkshake. Pity it closes early on the weekends...

We just wanted a coffee to go but stayed for amazing pizza made in a stone oven. We were glad to do so: the toppings were creative, fresh and delicious, the pizza dough thin and crisp and everything, including the place itself, was made with care and love. Would recommend to anyone who passes Barrydale!
