El Taoseno is an honest restaurant. It is not fancy. Does not charge fancy prices. What it is is a classic New Mexican "diner". This is a family run spot, provides good quality food at very fair prices. The formula works, and you will find a healthy crowd virtually every night. It is a large restaurant, so there is almost... This is a locals place and after my sixth meal there in a year, it's growing on me. I've tried the green chile stew and chicken enchiladas, but now that I've had the breakfast burrito with red chile, I'll probably always order the same thing. The fried potatoes are flavorful and the chile adds complexity to the eggs and pinto... More

If you want to know what distinguishes Northern New Mexican cuisine from the pretenders, learn here. It's neither Texan and nor Mexican. The Archuleta family has nurtured and protected this local gastronomic hideaway since I can remember. It isn't fancy, it isn't expensive and it isn't formal. The Anglos, Tiwas, and Spanish come here to savor how mom did it.... More

We live near Taos and this is our "go t"o restaurant for Mexican food. Atmosphere is not as great as some of the more touristy places but the folks their are friendly and the food - really good. Had take-out tonight with my favorite the cheese enchilada plate (with red sauce but green is good too). My husband had the... More

Drove into Taos after a day of sightseeing wanting some local food but had no idea where to go. Decided a good place would be where the parking lot was full of trucks and not rental cars. BINGO. This was the place. Inexpensive, local food, sopapillas, large menu, fast service and friendly staff that seemed so know everyone in the... More

Michael's Kitchen was closed so we cruised around looking for a breakfast spot in Taos. Ended up at El Taoseno and were not impressed. I ordered an egg over medium and it came hard as a rock. No sourdough toast. Hash brown potatoes were cold and lumped together. All in all, not a pleasant breakfast. We I don't recommend it.

El Taoseno was near our hotel, had good reviews on TA and opens at 6am. We live in the Eastern time zone and are awake and ready for breakfast earlier than most in Taos. The breakfast burrito had bacon, 2 scrambled eggs and hash browns wrapped in a flour tortilla and smothered in green chile. In addition, there was a... More

Their slogan, 'Where the Locals Eat', says a lot! As we walked in with our 4 year old grandson a rather full and busy establishment, all went quiet . . . The five of us pick our table out and sat down. Then in about 30 seconds, the patrons came back to life!!! It was quite comical - we were... More
