Mora is a tiny town with hidden great food options. Hatchas is the place to go if you want to experience real New Mexican food, and the hamburgers are great as wel.

This is a perennial local favorite for a very good reason: their outstanding chile. Be it green or red, it has just the right complexity, smokiness, and heat. And of course chile goes with everything. (By the way, in New Mexico, it's not "chili," which is a Texan concoction with beans. The hot green pepper is a "chile," and green... More

This town is nearly entirely ghost. Never saw so many closed store fronts. So eating is limited. Despite the map, Hatcha's is mid-town, just west of the 434 intersection. Waitress friendly. Cooks boisterous. Chicken filling in enchilada lacked flavor. Guacamole good. Toilet very clean. Coffee OK but not great.

Find a way to get out there. The drive in is beautiful. We stopped to eat before going to play with the alpacas. It's some of the best Mexican food that I have ever had and I used to live in Mexico. If you have a timid palate, ask for some sour cream on the side!

We have been coming here for the last 5 years and the food & service has always been great. They changed the way you order this year, now you sit down & order rather than at the counter as you come in but this did not change the service at all.

Delicious New Mexican cuisine. Loved the blue corn enchiladas. Prices were great and the service was friendly.

Stopped in Mora at Hatcha's Café after a visit to the Mora Valley Spinning Mill. Seated immediately and the waitress took our drink order. Returned quickly with the drinks and took our order. The waitress was very friendly and answered our questions. My wife had an omelette and I had enchiladas. Large portions and well prepared. If you're in Mora... More
