I had early lunch here and was delighted! Menu shows standard SW sandwich/burger/steak menu and also breakfast. Meat carefully cooked to order, salad bar that's very adequate, and service was good. Not to be confused by the two names. My receipt showed the first part, but the other room igoes by the second name! All part of a small groc.... More

Food was good in this unique location. Part Gas station, grocery store, motel and restaurant. Green chile cheeseburger was good, country fried steak as awesome.

My parents and wife watched a show that showcased this establishment. We decided to make the drive and try out a steak. Let me say it was well worth it. My steak was so tender I didn't need to use a knife to cut it. The size was well enough to fill me up. The staff was very friendly and... More

Three of our party had green chile cheeseburgers which were outstanding. Salad bar was very good--lots of fresh choices and pasta salad, etc. Plentiful and inexpensive ice tea plus homemade pie! Convenience store has everything for travelers! Great place in isolated area. Gas station too.

Driving the scenic route from Albuquerque to Silver City, we found the Eagle Guest Ranch Cafe at the crossroads where we needed to turn. How fortuitous, as what we needed and had no idea that we would find, was a decent lunch! We both had green chile cheeseburgers and they were the best, cooked as requested, juicy, spicy and with... PHONE NUMBER DOES NOT WORK! We'd like to go there on Sunday, but phone number does not work to verify hours. Cannot say I'm happy about the place if no working phone.

A friend and I were here to visit friends that lived nearby. We were treated to steaks here by our friends and OM goodness! I ordered the small steak and it COVERED my plate! It was cooked and seasoned to perfection! Lovely little salad bar available and sides were more than ample and great tasting. If I am ever back... More

My husband and I were camping at the Datil Wells Campground, just a mile from the cafe. My husband had one of the best steak sandwiches of his life and I enjoyed the chicken fried steak. Strawberry cheesecake was delicious. Friendly service. A nice mix of locals and tourists.

Stopped here after visiting the VLA on a recommendation from a friend who grew up in Datil (which only has about 50 residents). It's about 20 minutes past the VLA, but worth the extra drive even if you're heading back toward Socorro. Neat place - rustic on the inside. It's a convenience store, gas station, motel, and restaurant all in... More

Everyone was pleased with their meals. Steak is what I ordered, & steak is what I got! Homemade pies were tempting, but, alas to full.
