We have always driven out to Chimayo when we visit Santa Fe, it is a beautiful drive and always had lunch at the restaurant. Today the food was a disappointment to say the least. My husband had trout almandine which was not all that fresh and I had carne asada (requested it medium) and it was well done and smothered... More

I went to this restaurant in a big group a few weeks ago and I had an awful experience. Of course, since we were in a big group, the menu was limited, but as a vegetarian, I had no options. Our server was also extremely rude and not very accommodating. I would not recommend this restaurant, whether you are traveling... More

I had been wanting to go here for years. An every time either my wife was not hungry or they were not open. Made a special trip this time and it was great. the Guacamole was great and the tamales and stuffed sopepias (sorry I can't spell) But I sure can eat them. They were fantastic. I also had the... -as our two luncheon experiences in Easter Week would demonstrate. Florence was there and so were we. And their James Beard selection is intact and the meals were delicious. We have come to understand that local cuisine is best judged by the most common denominator, usually the beans. They're wonderful, as is all the rest. Five stars will be awarded... More

While driving back from Taos to Santa Fe on the high road we stopped @ Rancho de Chimayo for lunch around 1:30 on a Friday afternoon--and it was exactly what we were looking for. We were promptly seated by a lady in Spanish garb (Chimayo is a Spanish enclave--not a Pueblo Indian). After refusing an alcohol drink (driving the high... More

We eat at Rancho de Chimayo every time we are within 100 miles, and have never been disappointed. Contrary to some reviews, we have always had excellent service, including our visit today. We're from Texas so we eat a lot of Mexican food, but we love SW Mexican food as well ... and in my book this is some of... More

What a disappointment. We visited here years back and had fond memories of the great meal sitting on the patio. Today? Not overly crowded but a bus load of noisy, obnoxious tourists made the room incredibly uncomfortable. We are not snobs, but catering to this lunch tour group is unfortunate. The food? Very very average. We love beans and know... More

I have been to this restaurant multiple times and I have to make excuses to guests about the service..."don't worry, the food will make up for the poor service". It is a disappointment, I am not sure if it is the immaturity or lack of training of the staff. Maybe since it is the only restaurant close to the Santuario... More

It was a beautiful morning to take a drive through the Nambe valley to Chimayo. The light filtering through the trees and green grass everywhere. We sat out in the sunroom(outdoor tables not open for season). My girl ordered Huevos Rancheros with tortillas and sopapillas. I had to have the Blue Corn pancakes. I could not finish the short stack.... More

There's something about Rancho de Chimayo that never fails to draw me in. The atmosphere and ambiance, the service, the food and definitely the killer Chimayo Cocktails all combine to create a one-of-a-kind dining experience. Yes, the place can be exceptionally busy when a busload of tourists descend or during the high season, but it's not the place for a... More
