With a couple of active grandkids you have to be able to read between the lines as to what constitutes "child friendly". Many restaurants say they're child friendly, and they are - but the only child friendly part of the equation is that they offer...More

We had a family lunch at the Millhouse kitchen on Saturday afternoon. Service was not great. The waiter could not care less about our table. Food was ok but not at all the quality or presentation we had before on the many times we've been...More

Not a single option on the menu for a person following a vegan diet. The chef was also not willing to consider making something. Most other restaurants are more than willing to accommodate us by making/veganising a meal. Ended up eating a pizza without cheese....More

We had a fantastic meal, sitting out on the verandah, overlooking the beautiful gardens. Service was excellent and the food outstanding. We went back on the Sunday to enjoy the wonderful craft and food market.

Good Food and service. The wine is very expensive. It is cheaper to buy a bottle at the vineyard and pay corkage.

Description
Founded in 1700, Lourensford Estate has married its historic heritage with a vision to be at the forefront of modern wine technology and a leader amongst South African Wine producers. Owner & Executive Chef, Bjorn Guido's cooking career started at The Greenhouse at Cellars-Hohenort under chef Peter Templehoff. He then moved abroad and joined Babington House, part of the SOHO HOUSE group under the renowned Ronnie Bonetti of River Cafe London. After gaining experience abroad, he returned home and took up the role of Head Chef at The Franschhoek Kitchen on the Holden Manz Wine Estate. Food provenance and sustainability are core to Millhouse's philosophy. The eatery's contemporary barn-conversion interior puts a modern twist on classic elements, featuring a mix of leather banquette seating and reclaimed timber walls. Bjorn's aim was to create a neighbourhood feel where guests can relax and enjoy each other's company. Watch as food is prepared in the expansive open kitchen and Italian style pizza's are delivered fresh from the wood fired oven.
