Oh dear, something has gone wrong with this restaurant - it used to be one of my favourites. Two weeks ago I visited for dinner and whilst the food was ok the service was incredibly slow. We arrived at 7.30 pm and had starters but...More

Compared with other restaurants in the area, Millhouse Kitchen seems to have fallen a little by the wayside. Our drinks order was at first forgotten and then delivered incorrectly. A main of mussels came with 2 small pieces of dry toast - fresh bread was...More

This is the second time in a year that The Millhouse has monumentally failed to impress. 1) No Lourensford Sauvignon Blanc - the cellar is just 80 metres away and stocks thousands of cases of the stuff ! 2) No Springbok loin - inexcusable for...More

As a local, I love coming to Millhouse Kitchen as I find the venue and food beautiful. It just uplifts me, and is approachable as a family wine estate restaurant. Its not overly fussy - its just chilled, beautiful and pleasant.

We visited for breakfast. We only had 90 minutes and asked for prompt service. Only 3 other tables were occupied, but service was disorganised. Maybe it would help if the waiter had a note book and got all the order right first time around! We...More

Description
Founded in 1700, Lourensford Estate has married its historic heritage with a vision to be at the forefront of modern wine technology and a leader amongst South African Wine producers. Owner & Executive Chef, Bjorn Guido's cooking career started at The Greenhouse at Cellars-Hohenort under chef Peter Templehoff. He then moved abroad and joined Babington House, part of the SOHO HOUSE group under the renowned Ronnie Bonetti of River Cafe London. After gaining experience abroad, he returned home and took up the role of Head Chef at The Franschhoek Kitchen on the Holden Manz Wine Estate. Food provenance and sustainability are core to Millhouse's philosophy. The eatery's contemporary barn-conversion interior puts a modern twist on classic elements, featuring a mix of leather banquette seating and reclaimed timber walls. Bjorn's aim was to create a neighbourhood feel where guests can relax and enjoy each other's company. Watch as food is prepared in the expansive open kitchen and Italian style pizza's are delivered fresh from the wood fired oven.
