The outside bar on the main road through the town was our favourite stopping off point for a beer or two. Friendly staff and loads of shade!

After a very disappointing meal across the road at a different establishment, we needed a drink! A martini was just what I needed. Behind the bar, Matthew from England (I believe that is his name) shared thoughts on gins and martinis and ended up making me one of the best martinis I have had, and served in a manner that... Margo Janse is a renowed Chef and she is contibuting to make life better for lots of underprivileged children. Also it’s very nice that she has a screening room in which you can enjoy good quality films over a glass of wine. But…. we find the value for money (price/quality) in her restaurant(s) and for the wines (per glass) out... More

We went on a rather quiet afternoon between lunch and dinner, everything was tapas style and tasted divine. Interesting little dishes

We were told you have to go to the tasting room it is something special we made a special effort to get there from Stellenbosche. It sure was something special, especially terrible. The Meal was absolutely disgusting we wanted to leave after the Free Starter which leaves me with a terrible after taste which i can still imagine, we wanted... More

Unusually we went to Franschhoek on the first day of our stay and decided to go to Le Quarter Francais for a snack lunch from the bar menu. The front area was very quiet leading to very if not slightly too attentive staff. The food was OK and as a place to park up for an hour or two it... More

We have been in SA for many year, but this was the first time we eat at LQF. To make it brief, we should have done it at day one! It is perfect, both the food and wine a teamed up nicely. We have a great waiter with entertaining stories to tell on all of the 9 courses. Take the... More

We had not made a reservation and this place was jam packed nevertheless they made us welcome and found a table for us to sit at. We all had various snacks as we were not over hungry and each dish was served after a short wait and worth the wait. Would we visit again - yes.

I had reservations for The Tasting Room, where I enjoyed fantastic meal. book 6 weeks in advance if you want to eat there, it is after all # 61 on the top 100 in the world list for places to eat. So while I waited to be seated I enjoyed a few cocktails at the bar that opened up into... More

Once the absolute stand out location in Franshoek it seems to have lost it's way begining with the loss of beautiful shrub beds outside Le Quartier to the over complication of foods and direction. Is it a restuarant-gallery-hotel? Still worth exploring but we find it has priced itself out of our revisit locations pity!
