The name of the restaurant was inspired by La Motte's admiration of South African artist Jacob Hendrik Pierneef (1886 - 1957). Pierneef's creativity in portraying the beauty of the South African landscape is echoed in the restaurant's offering of traditional cuisine with a modern interpretation. The restaurant's elegant interior sets the scene for Chef Eric Bullpit's heritage-inspired lunch menu of shared starters, treats from Grandma's pantry and mains from an a la carte menu. The interior blends beautifully with the external surroundings - a fresh, natural look inside is embraced by tranquil gardens and majestic oak trees where something ligher or a selection of home-baked delights from the…
From the moment you entered La Motte, you are whisked away into another world. The meals are exquisite: beautifully presented, delicious and with excellent service.
The Cape Winelands are blessed with some of the finest restaurants South Africa has to offer. After many visits to...La Motte in the last five years.
I can honestly say that it is still one of the best lunch experiences you will ever encounter.More
The finest line fish dish I’ve had, the aubergine and roasted onion / parmesan was exquisite! Party of four with all differing meals were suitably impressed. Paired with the la Motte Millennium! Sublime!
Booked my birthday lunch at Pierneef to celebrate with friends and family. It was such a relaxing and special day enjoying the good wine and beautifully prepared cuisine in the picture perfect surroundings. We never had an empty glass and we all got served our...food at the same time. I even received a dessert with a handwritten note wishing me happy birthday. Thank you to all the staff for treating us like king and queens!More
My husband and I enjoyed a peaceful brunch with a glass of La Motte Chardonnay on the deck overlooking the pond. It's so peaceful on a week day you can hear the birds chirping and the sound of water flowing. Service was exceptional and the...waitress was so helpful and took the time to explain the menu and ingredients used in the vegetarian dish. The main ingredient for my dish was celeriac, I've never had this before but gosh the flavours in that dish was just top notch . Hats off to the chef! I can't wait to go back and try out another vegetarian dish.More

We managed to get a booking at La Motte during Lockdown level 2. Even with the shorter menu options available for lunch is well thought through. We had the cheese platter as a starter with the lamb neck as the main course. The lamb was...slow cooked at 75C overnight and was ons of the best lamb dishes I had. The waiters is just amazing.More
A modern South African restaurant at the rather grande La Motte winery. We had lunch, which was exceptionally good value, even in the peak season. Lunch starts with a 'family style' collection of shared breads, salads, charcuterie and pickles - all very fresh and tasty....There's a decent wine list with a large selection of estate wines by the (very generous) glass.
Service was notably warm and friendly.More
La Motte is a truly beautiful farm - it's immaculate, very stylish and very Cape. From the time we booked until we left, we were treated with professional warmth. Service was very good. The food was delicious and interesting without trying too hard. The wines...good, with good advice. I would happily go back.More
