The food was good and the wine pairing well done but this is the most expensive meal we have had in South Africa. Definitely an experience to try once but there are many other restaurants in the area that serve food which is as good but at a fraction of the cost.

My apologies for the delay in getting this review together. My husband and I had dined here for our first time at the Tasting Room in 2010 on the night before our wedding. We returned for the first time in Jan 2015 while staying again at La Residence (where we also had been married in 2010). The dining room and... More

My wife loves tasting menus because of the great variety and small portions. The variety and taste bud excitation at the Tasting Room in Franschhoek was phenomenal. Service excellent and ambiance pleasant but good. The whole hotel radiates a wonderful feeling. Not only the Tasting Room staff but all the Hotel staff were extremely pleasant, helpful and competent.

Remarkable, imaginative range of meticulously prepared foods - worth selecting a shorter menu than tempts you.

We had the degustation with wine pairing. Wonderful experience to savour such tasty and meticulously prepared food! Love the artful preparation & presentation of dishes. It would be perfect if we had dined in a semi-outdoor setting for such a long dining experience (more than 3 hours, 8 course)! Tip : don't do so much wine tasting prior to this... More

We called in here for tapas at lunchtime because it had been highly recommended by friends. We shared: fish cakes which were gorgeous with the subtle flavour of smokey fish; lamb and bacon crumble which had a deliciously rich flavour; caesar salad which was served with a very tangy dressing and large parmesan shavings. The food was extremely tasty and... More

We visited Franschhoek especially to dine here and it was definitely worth it. A highlight of the trip with wonderful food and excellent service. A word of caution, if you have no self control and plan to have the accompanying wines, don't take the wine tours during the day :)
