I love Pop's bagels, so naturally I wanted to try this place. My husband had tried the bowls in the early stages of the restaurant, he liked them. We went the other night to sit down and hang out after an extremely difficult long day. We got there at 7, which was still 1.5 hours before close. I tried to order multiple different options, each time being told that they are not offering that right now. I finally asked 'ok, well what are you offering?'...she said 'the mashed potato bowl that he (my husband) had ordered. I am on a strict diet, which before we chose this place, claimed to have had all the items that were acceptable for my diet. I was stuck getting a bowl of boxed mashed potatoes, with canned corn, canned gravy, shredded cheese, and tiny chopped bits of chicken, which were equivalent to a medium size chicken strip. I was not able to physically eat any of this, per my Doctor while still healing from a serious life threatening surgery. to add insult to injury, when my husband went up to get the food, the woman at the counter told us that they didn't want us eating there, and so they had pre-boxed and packed all our food to go. My husband asked what time they were closing, and she said, we've decided to close now - still nearly 1.5 HOURS before close!!!! The bill was $40 just for the two bowls. Needless to say, they were disgusting, the chicken tasted stale, and the rest is pretty obvious why it didn't taste edible. If that woman is not the owner, she needs to be fired, because I can promise you that your business will not last another year like this.

Friendly small family restaurant with fried chicken as good as any of the chains, but hot and served on a real plate. The sides make it special though - try the au gratin potatoes or the sweet potato fries for sure. The possibilities are numerous- from the traditional Cole slaw/beans/mashed to stuffing, green beans, Mac n Cheese, and on and on. Fast, great service to the table.

The first thing you notice is how clean this establishment is. That is very impressive to me. I wish everywhere was this clean. I ordered a cornucopia of wings. I wasn’t a fan of the garlic butter wings. The garlic Parmesan boneless wings were good. However, the BBQ and spicy Asian taste the best. The wings are huge! You won’t need to order many. There are plenty of seats both in and outside of the establishment. Although, if you sit outside you will be overlooking the mini mall which includes the rite aid, post office, etc.

I remember the buzz when this place first opened, such great reviews, and everyone was talking about how great the chicken was. Fast forward to my first experience with Pops Chicken, and wow, what a bad experience. Ordered and paid online, got there and the cashier was on the phone and did not even acknowledge me for 7 min. Made eye contact once, then looked away. Finally when she was off the phone, she just said pick-up? I said yeah, she said it'll be ready on a few minutes. That's it, that's all.
The inside is in poor shape, out of service sign on the soda machine, half the menu monitors were static or not working, tvs not working, just sad disregard for any sort of upkeep or care about how the place appears.
Get home 5 min away, and the chicken is barely warm and soggy, has absolutely no flavor or seasoning, fries are cold and without salt, ordered half biscuit, half cornbread, was told they don't have biscuits.
Save yourself, and save your money, you get better fried chicken from Shoprite.
So disappointed. Please take this review as a wake-up call Pops, or I doubt you'll be here in in a few months.

Very disappointed. Went to pick up a catering order for my husbands 60th birthday and it was NOT even prepared! They had no instructions from anyone that I was picking up the order today. I had paid for the order in person few days prior. Thank goodness for Shoprite Chicken!!! Sorry to say they lost a customer who could never recommend them.

We were attending a funeral in Wharton. I knew of Pop’s but not where it was. We looked and found it near RT 15.
Excellent family chicken restaurant. Met Mom and her a Son, who runs this location.
BEST CHICKEN we have had in a long time. Have been back again and all we have ordered and taken home ( in nearby Mt Hope ) were excellent and very tasty.
Will return!

This place is great for fried chicken. The food was fresh and taste like homemade. The sides to choose from are numerous and the four we had with our 8 piece meal were delicious. The sides also tasted homemade. The service was pleasant and helpful. You order at the counter and they bring the food to your table. The meals and sides are served on nice looking restaurant style dinner plates. The silverware is sealed in envelopes and look like new. Very pleased with this place as the prices compare with the Popeyes and KGCs but the good and ambience much nicer. I will be back.

First of all, I pull up and the cook is just sitting on the stoop with door open to the cook area sitting with hands resting on the stoop he was sitting on. Cleanliness did not scream at me as I walked up, but I went in anyway. Tables were filthy as if they had a crowd right before I got there. Bathroom was filthy. Chicken was dry and way too salty. Counter person was pleasant and prompt. As I walked out I peered in the back, opened kitchen door and it also looked filthy. Will not return. Hope I don’t get ill.

we had different meals and all enjoyed their meal. the chicken bowls are delicious, both the country and the Asian. Also had the chicken noodle soup and 1/4 chicken white. everything was very fresh and enough to take some home. the cornbread is delicious. The restaurant is very clean and well decorated. the staff was very friendly and attentive. Prices are very reasonable. I was very pleased and will be visiting Pop's often.

Visited last week. Was excited to find a good place in the area that makes quality fried chicken. We were disappointed. They did a great job remodeling,but the food didn't stand up to the test. First, the chicken was dry,and not much meat. A bit over salted as well. We had the baked beans,creamed spinach,and mashed potatoes as sides, and it also came with bisquit and corn bread. I honestly can't say any of it was good! The rotisserie chickens were tiny as well. Wharton shoprite fried chicken blows this place out of the water!

They serve fried and rotisserie chicken, salads and dessert. We ordered the Fried Chicken sandwich and the Orange Chicken Salad. Sides were Creamed Spinach and Mashed Potatoes. All were excellent. The Fried Chicken in particular is just fantastic. Worth going just for this. The Mashed Potatoes are made with REAL potatoes. Perfect. Very comfortable, new interior dining room and a deck off the back for outdoor dinner. If you like chicken, head to Pop's in Wharton, NJ
