Very relaxed atmosphere in an old inn. Rustic interior with carvings on the walls and tables. Food was good but a bit expensive for what you get.

The moment we were seated a server was at our table despite it being a little crowded. We ordered a round of drinks and reviewed the menu. I ordered a half dozen of Topneck clams on the half shell and the wife ordered Tuna Tartare....More

You know this old colonial tavern must be good because it opened in 1737 and is still in business. During the Revolutionary War, American soldiers drank here. So did the British soldiers -- it all depended on who occupied the area at any given time....More

Very nice place to eat and drink. Very nice menu. Plenty of drinks from the bar. When you walk into Stage House, the host welcomes you with a smile. Food was good and we were very satisfied as we left for the day

Stage house has it all. A big TV filled bar with lots of seats if eating alone or with friends. Then a quiet nicer bar for a date. It also has multiple places to eat, louder on the first flr, quieter upstairs, and outside if...More

For nearly twenty years, I have called Scotch Plains, New Jersey my home. Even though some may consider it just another suburb of Manhattan with congested primary avenues and bumper-to bumper neighborhoods featuring the cottages of baby-boomers hoping to find space and solace somewhere with...More

The food is very good here and the cocktails are excellent. It is a great casual dining experience with a very local feel.

Three dining options: First, The original StageHouse Restaurant, offering fine dining in an elegant county inn setting. Built in 1737 this historic inn boasts many small dining rooms with a fireplace in each room. The Stage House Restaurant offers an ala carte menu every day. Next, The Tavern at the Stage House, which serves up Rustic American fare in a more casual setting. Newly renovated with a new 35 seat bar, a cool little club house and the best Burger in Town. Lastly, The Patio at the stage house, which is a huge outdoor bar and dining room offering either menu. Reservations are only accepted for the fine dining restaurant, the others are first come first serve.
