We returned to Harold's after a few years. We placed an order to take out. The prices had doubled. They are the same price as the best New York deli, but they are 45 minutes from New York. They were significantly higher than similar restaurants...nearby. The rye bread was actually white bread. We will not return.More

This used to be a great place for deli. Today we were there for lunch and we were served a stingy amount of coleslaw with our sandwich. When we asked for a bit more coleslaw we were told there would be an additional charge. We...found that hard to believe because there wasn’t enough for 4 of us. When questioned, “Harold” came over to our table and in a very loud and rude voice (heard by neighboring tables) he told us to get out of his restaurant and never return! I have never been spoken to like that. The 4 of us will definitely not go back there. At the end of our meal, we asked for an extra slice of bread for some leftover meat to take home and they wanted to charge us 75 cents! Are you kidding?More

Excellent corn beef/pastrami sandwiches and even better cheese blintzes. It’s too bad that they spend so much time and effort supersizing everything to a silly extent. The prices are silly but on a lb for lb Basis logical. It’s not cheap but you will leave...with leftovers and if you aren’t careful a case of indigestion from over eatingMore

The meats remain outstanding and the server was very good but other "post Covid" cutbacks are obvious and downgrade the Value significantly since this place is very expensive. FIrst of all the amount of sandwich meat served as of 2-5-24 was significanly less then traditionally...served and nowhere what appears in their online photo's. Secondly they eliminated the stacks of fabulous Rye Bread from the pickle bar and replaced them with mini muffins and breads that were sitting out too long and had dried out. Not good. Finally as I've done for decades I ordered deli meats to go ($50/lb) and they were excellent and came with excellent mustard but again they deleted the Rye bread in the "to go" so you could make sandwiches wherever you were going. I dined alone because I was driving up the NJTPJE past Exit 10 and just couldn't pass up a chance to get some Pastarami but my bill including tip was $150 for a sandwich ($30) a pound of Passtrami, a half pound of brisket (with Au Jus) and a half pound of very good Turkey. Do you think they could have spared 6 slices of Rye? Will I go back... probably, been going there for toomany years but maybe I'll just get a sandwich and pass on the take home.More

Waitress Roseanna was excellent and the food was the best I've had in a long time. Even better than Katz's. Not as tight and a great pickle bar.

As part of our annual holiday fun, our entire family gathers here every year to feast. Yep, the food (especially the deli items ie pastrami, corned beef, tongue, are wonderful) However Harolds has priced themselves out of middle class dining. This place is known for...humongous portions. But I still cannot fathom spending $45 for a sandwich for 2, $10 for a cup of chili, $7.50 for Stewart's root beer (local). If you are a tourist to the northeast, I guess you must try this place once. But even their salad bar has hit a slump, replacing potato salad and health salad with sauerkraut. Visiting was not as fun this year, as it has been in past years. The more than $200 bill for 6 adults might have had something to do with it.More

Ok, maybe Jersey and NYC too.  This place is renowned for their huge portions of ... well, huge everything!.  Huge sandwiches, huge sides, huge desserts  You name it.  It may be gimmick, but their food is good.  Especially recommend pastrami.  Dont go by yourself.

Random family members got together for late lunch (after 2PM). Everything was delicious, and also gigantic. We all chuckled at the size of every item as it came out of the kitchen. Our waiter, "Willy" (aka Guglielmo) was wonderful, attentive and helpful. He even taught...us how to keep a slice of cake upright (5 or 6 tiers) until we could attack it with 6 forks. We had a great time.More

I am very disappointed in such a long-standing establishment not to have done anything for Veterans Day, especially when the owner is a veteran. I came all the way from DC to this spot. However, the sandwiches are big and tasty. The coleslaw was good....I am good with not returning if you can't honor our veterans once a year.More

The highlights of my visit were an amazing chicken soup with a massive matzo ball ( ordered as a side ), a great complimentary pickle bar, wonderful service and a delicious hot pastrami sandwich. I highly recommend dining here.

While prices are high you get your moneys worth with the biggest and still the best sandwiches; especially pastrami and corned beef. No other deli compares. the pickle bar, cakes and french fries are the best.

First time at this deli but definitely not for us, I guess the waitress was very busy to explain the menu to first time customers. Food was average and portions are HUGE but we did not know they could be shared. Hamburger was tasteless and...plain, not a piece of lettuce, tomato or onion. Brisket sandwich was not special. As I titled the review a fair mistake but Harold’s is not for us.More

I've read numerous reviews for this deli/restaurant and had to try it for myself. Everything I read was true....Harold's is better than Katz's in New York City (with free parking as a bonus). The sandwiches are HUGE, great service, and fair prices for what you...get. The "pickle bar" was great as well.More

Certainly, yes. Just one thing however... something Harold (Jaffe - the owner) does is not right at all. If you order a corned beef OR pastrami sandwich, either one is about $30 now (feeds 3+ people)... HOWEVER, if you... More
