Durbar Square is a jewel of a restaurant. It was cozy and clean. But, most importantly, the food was delicious. Our table shared two lamb dishes. Both were delicious and entirely different. You can choose spiciness from 1-10. I highly recommend eating here.

The main dining rooms are upstairs and pleasantly cozy. Nice to be up away from the draft of a front door on a winter's night. At street level, you'll see only the takeout area. Everything here was a delight: food, atmosphere, background music, the tender care of the staff, variety of options for every taste and kind of diet, and... More

I've eaten here three times. The third time wasn't the charm, though. The food is very good, especially the gundrun soup. The flat herb bread is delicious but should be included with the pricey meals instead of costing an additional $3. The dinner portions aren't much larger than the luncheon portions. The luncheon dishes don't include some of the better... More

This was the first time that we tried Durbar Square and we will be back. The food was uniformly fresh and delicious. Definitely get the mo mo dumplings and one of the chili's. The bread is homemade and also excellent. The owner, John, is extremely nice and helpful. We will be back and highly recommend that foodies pass the word... More

We love Southeast Asian food and this Nepali restaurant was terrific. Very nice staff - vegetables were cooked just right with wonderful seasonings. I had Basil Shrimp and my husband had Salmon and Asparagus - both were excellent. Will be back again.

Happened to see this place while walking around Portsmouth browsing for a place to have a late lunch. We were headed for a seafood place but saw the sign and, having had Nepalese food elsewhere, thought we would give it a try. The food is amazing and the staff very friendly and welcoming. Will definitely be back and will bring... More

What a gem! Family run Nepalese restaurant in Portsmouth, New Hampshire. I live in the SF Bay Area, and visit Portsmouth at least six times a year. The area is clearly a seafood mecca, which makes Durbar Square REALLY stand out! Run by a Nepalese family, the menu is dominated by gluten free, low oil yet incredibly fragrant Nepalese cuisine.... We've learned so much about world cuisine and this is the most recent lesson for visitors to Portsmouth. The owners of Durbar Square began in Manchester and followed that success to Hanover. They have now brought Nepalese dining to Portsmouth. This is its own creative fusion. The crossroads of Indian and Chinese food adds its own taste of Nepal to... More
