It has been awhile since my last visit to Mombo, certainly not because of a bad experience, but because southern Maine and Seacoast NH has become over-flowing with wonderful restaurants. I went for dinner this week since Mombo was included in this spring's Seacoast restaurant week. I am SO glad I did - Mombo did not disappoint! Tom, the owner... More

Visited here during restaurant week. We were greeted warmly by the host and seated immediately (we had reservations). The space is lovely but we found it to be quite loud while all the tables were full. Our waitress was efficient and professional but not particularly warm and friendly and she never checked back once our food was delivered. We found... More

We had not been to Mombo in years, and after tonight, we are wondering why we waited. The maître d' greeted us with a warm welcome and showed us to a quiet table. We both chose the restaurant week menu which included innovative and tasty dishes. I chose the short rib wellington that was delicious. My husband enjoyed the haddock... More

2 couples out to a nice dinner during restaurant week. the food was fabulous! Scallop 'porcupine' was so yummy with quick-fried small scallops and a nice sweet-chili drizzle. the arugula, pear and goat cheese salad was perfectly dressed and delicious. Haddock with pesto over a tomato/veggie stew was also very good, though could have been spiced a bit more. and... More

Did dinner there. Good menu that was a little different but still offered good choices. Food was excellent. Very cozy old tavern feel to the place. Good service and they have their own parking lot. Price average for Portsmouth. Great wine list.

After calling a few restaurants in Portsmouth for openings and being told the were either booked or a very late dinner time, I called MOMBO, to be told there may be a 40 minute wait.Happily we quickly drove there and walked in sans reservations. We were told they had an opening at the Chefs Table. Happily we agreed! This turned... More

My husband and I have been coming to Mombo for years and it never disappoints. We had the Caesar salads and the NY Strip. The salads had a spin on the old classic and were dressed perfectly. The steaks were succulent as were the potatoes and the buttery carrots. We both had the rum cocktails which were also delicious and quite... More

My wife and I went here for a highly anticipated anniversary dinner. The service was very accommodating and friendly however, the menu was not as advertised online. We were really looking forward to the Wagu beef steak or the Filet but the only steak option was the NY Strip which was not very impressive for the price. Also, out of... More

This could be Portsmouth dining perfected. Located in an old General Store with wall boards dating back hundreds of years, the ambience really reflects the Stawbery Banke section of town. The service is wonderful, (Thanks Andrea!) professional and punctual. Really great menu selection. Last night I had the Venison Tenderloin. OMG, the flavors, presentation were just perfect and the portion... More

My partner enjoyed the 4 pork offering quite a bit; taste and a great presentation. Unfortunately, that's where the praise ends. The homemade ciabatta was warmed but cold on the inside. Being a vegetarian I found one item on the entree menu, though no vegetarian protein. I had the the pumpkin ravioli that was predominantly salty and soggy. The service... More
