Such a lovely place and great people but the food has definitely gone down hill from its previous excellent standards. Food was slow coming from the kitchen and the food unremarkable. But by comparison with other local restaurants prices are still relatively high - but if they are going to be the most expensive they must get be the best... More

I had heard so much about the red lion and it's advertised quite widely unfortunately it wasn't a great experience. To start with we tried to order a drink and get some menus and the barman just walked off and did something else. Things went downhill when dinner arrived with what can only be called half a meal. The pie... More

I have been in this pub a few times over the past 3 years, thsi is my 2nd review since 2015 & my least favourite experience. It was quite challenging to be served drinks once we were seated & i felt like i was in the way where I was seated, the staff seamed to struggle to get past me.... More

I have been coming to this pub for 25 years plus and never had an issue until this afternoon (2nd April 2017 - Sunday lunch). Took 10-15 mins to get a drink from the bar. Shown to our table whereupon we waited for our order to be taken. Got fed up with the wait and went to the bar to... More

2 Small steak & chips 25.00 each. 2 desserts & cheap bottle of wine. £91.00. What you get for a very poor meal. Serving staff didn't want to be there, it was very plain. The Irish owner was awful. He reminded my husband of the owner of a certain Irish airline. Loud & brass. Would not recommend or suggest anyone... More

Dear Madam I am the Manager in question that you refer to and that welcomed you on your arrival. I asked if I could help you and yourself and your husband asked for a table for two for dinner. As the restaurant was booked out I brought you to a table in the bar, I gave you menu`s and a... More

After several disappointing experiences at the Red Lion we decided to stop for lunch. We were pleasantly surprised. Two young men at the front of house were very capable, efficient and extremely hard working. Our food was served in good time and was lovely. Our slight criticism would be that the 'snack' menu of sandwiches etc. is rather limited. In... More

We arranged to have Gina's birthday lunch in the Red Lion's heated marquee that is attached to a solid building for the bar and so on. There were 30 of us and the tables and flowers and heating were spot on. A previous reviewer has said that the manager - Ceartain - was like a sergeant major! Well I promote... More
