I have never seen anything like it inside a dining establishment. There were so many flies that a neighboring table brought us napkins to cover our food. We had to lift a corner of the napkin to spear a bite, then cover it back up....It was disgusting. The waitress did nothing except to comment on the number of flies. Jax is so worth visiting. They make home cooked food , have an awesome menu with a variety of choices, old fashioned ambiance, and a great, efficient, and friendly wait staff. What more could you ask for? They are open for breakfast and lunch and...close about 3:00. They are conveniently located on the Main Street through town. Two adults visited this cafe for lunch. Pre-Covid and pre-new ownership we have always enjoyed items from the lighter fare menu. It fits our budget and appetites as seniors on fixed income. Our favs were tuna melt and fish tacos, and plate of fries to...share. My oh my. The fish taco was the worst excuse for this item I have ever experienced. One thin piece of fish about the length of my little finger (and that is no exaggeration). The tuna melt was so watery and bland. The fries were barely warm, like they had been sitting for some time. The coffee was also much weaker than before (and their coffee used to be stronger and very flavourful). If you are going to offer more cost effective options please take the same care and pride in preparing and serving them. In addition, upon entering the cafe we noted a distinct and unpleasant old grease smell that was never present all those years under the previous owners. Our entire experience was a real disappointment and we will not be returning, taking our business elsewhere. This cafe was once a known gem, but new ownership always brings new experiences and in this case a new and huge disappointment. Don’t waste your time and money here folks. There are several other places that will welcome you and ensure you a pleasing dining experience.More
The sign caught our attention, "breakfast served all day"! That is right up our alley. The easel sign at the front door said, top sirloin steak and eggs special! Yum 😋 That's what we had and it was fantastic! The steaks were and eggs were...done to perfection! They served us homemade raspberry jam, it was very good! But, the best part of our breakfast was all the fun and friendly service! We loved the atmosphere and decor. What a great meal and nice time, thank you so much! We came here for a late breakfast/early lunch. My husband had the typical breakfast and I had the Reuben sandwich with onion rings. It was all good and the service was really good, too.
We were 4 for Sunday brunch/lunch. It was a first visit for 2 of us. My salad was a disappointing mess of past their prime greens, the grilled chicken on top unseasoned. My husband had a lackluster cheeseburger. Our friends had a salmon benedict which...looked decent and she enjoyed and our 4th had a grilled cheese. Perhaps it is a better place for breakfast rather than lunch. Service was fine, no issues there but it was so loud inside that it also took away from any enjoyment. They have directional signs all over as you enter Eureka from any direction and certainly seem popular but I would not return unless someone convinced me to try it for breakfast.More

This is a great place loved by locals and discerning travellers who are fortunate enough to stumble across it or search it out. I had eggs Benedict, very well prepared and my wife had the Quesadia, enough for two and tasty. Good, fast service, good...coffee, easy to park. This is an old fashioned, small town cafe with cool decor. Spotless clean and the service was incredible. We had breakfast there and the portions were huge. Include with your coffee are fresh, warm muffins. I would drive 300 miles without a second thought just...to eat here again. ( I wish I could eat here every day!!!)More

We stopped at Cafe Jax on a whim, best choice! The service was impeccable and the food was very good. The portions were a bit bog for us but the taste was amazing. I would highly recommend they are worth the stop.

Delicious breakfast on the patio this summer. We were greeted with delicious chocolate chip muffins that were crispy on top and soft in the middle. The entrees were top notch - loved pancakes and heart healthy browns. Cowboy hats welcome.
