We've been coming here for years but we like to mainly come for the pies. Never had a bad meal here and certainly never had a bad pie! Their meringue is sky high!

If you like home cooked meals, breakfast, lunch or dinner, this is your place. I typically go here for breakfast or lunch and they have a big room in the back, great for meetings. The catering/buffet style for meetings is the best.

We visited on a Saturday evening. My husband and I split the 10 oz rib eye (so that we'd have room for pie). The rib eye was seasoned well and cooked to order. The split pea soup was awesome! Pies that are 7" tall and out of this world. This establishment just changed hands but is still going to have the same chef.

The dinner meals are okay, the lunch sandwiches are good, the pies are amazing. They are beautiful, plentiful, and full of flavor. The staff is always friendly. My one complaint is they aren't open Monday's.

We always stop at Cowan's when we are in the area. We get a nice salad so we don't feel so guilty about eating the pies. It's a little pricey but a nice treat.

We walked over with my father in law after church. There were several open tables when we got there, but they were all immediately filled by regulars. We were told we would be seated shortly, then we were repeatedly overlooked. We were seated after standing near a doorway for 30 minutes. The food and wait service was fine, however two... More

Don't miss Cowan's Restaurant if you are in Washington, MO. It is worth making it a destination point for traveling to Washington, MO. We stopped in late afternoon to enjoy their famous "Mile High Pies" and the coconut cream pie was great. I have never seen such a tall meringue on a pie! The restaurant was quite busy at 4... More
