I went into prison brews with a few friends on a Friday night. They were fairly busy and this was my first time eating there. We were immediately seated, but it took 20 minutes before anyone acknowledged us. Waiters and waitresses went past our table knowing that we had not been waited on (since we had no drinks). When we... More

Pizza is "OK" but other places are better. Atmosphere is not all that good. Not a real good part of town. Need to be carefule.

We just love the pizza; always get good to decent service, which is adequate for the price and atmosphere. Very relaxed and chill type enviroment. They are consistent with their service, menu and quality of food.

I love craft beer, so this place had much to offer. The food is average. Crowded at times, but that's to be expected. Service is average. Cleanliness is good. Parking is tight. Location is off the beaten path from most other places in Jefferson City. Basically, go for the great beer!

I have been here several times and never have been disappointed. The beers brewed on site offer a great selection and range to satisfy any beer lover. However it is the food that really keeps me coming back. Wood-fired pizza, incredible burgers & Reuben's, fresh salads and more. I have yet to have something that was not done right. Coupled... We were looking for an outdoor place to eat since it was 70 degrees on February 11, 2017. We were able to sit outside and enjoy the weather, which was positive. However, the service on the patio was slow since everyone had the same idea to eat outdoors. We waited 20 minutes for our waitress to take our food order.... More

Food is always great and service is good. Fun place to stop for a bite before or after a Prison Tour.

We didn't eat there even though what they were serving looked great. We did enjoy some beers and the names are great. We had a very good time and the atmosphere is really amazing.

Great lunch spot happy hour or dinner. House Microbrews here. Large portions of food and wood fired pizzas. Great outdoor patio and bocce ball courts as well. Good place to go and relax!

Prison Brews was opened in 2007 in a part of town that once housed the state penitentiary and is now experiencing residential / commercial re-growth. This has become a popular brewery with wood-fired pizzas, sandwiches, etc. It has completely embraced the "prison" kitsch feel with bars between the bar & dining area and pictures of the 1800's penitentiary historical artifact lining the walls. The menu items and beers on tap are also incorporated into the theme. There is a large dining area as well as large outdoor seating on the adjacent patio complete with bocce ball. A unique experience in a growing area of town.
