TODAY'S SOUPS‎
Local & seasonal offerings
Faikes: Lentil Soup
The‎ classic soup of greece eaten so often during periods of fasting. It has given us the word "lent" & "lenten"! This is the smaller, brown pulse imported from greece & made simply w/ lots of onions, garlic, herbs & spices: no veggies--potatoes, tomatoes, carrots, celery. If you want to eat it the way anna does, order an "extra" of skordalia & daub your soup w/ it. Yum! Both are vegan.
$3.95
Psarosoupa: Fish Chowder
Wild-caught cod in tomato-basil base w/ rice & veggies & the merest of hot. In greece moms grind up this soup & put it in the baby's bottles.
ADDITIONAL ENTREES‎
Local & seasonal offerings
$16.95
Kota Me Bamies: Braised Chicken & Okra
One quarter of amish chicken braised w/ tender okra in a piquant red sauce. Even yummier w/ feta cheese. Drink it w/ nemea, lafkioti.
$17.95
Makaronia Thalasina: Jumbo Scallops, Shrimp & Clams on Linguini
A‎ perennial favorite "additional entree" at the gardens, wild-caught jumbo scallops, shrimp & clams lightly sauteed w/ onion & garlic in olive oil over linguine.
$24.95
Arni Me Anginares: Braised Lamb Shank & Organic Artichoke Hearts
Brought back for valentine's day & as a promise for spring: all-natural lamb shanks braised in extra virgin olive oil & white wine, simmered w/ organic, globe artichoke hearts, sweet carrots, scallions & fresh dill. This is anna's absolute favorite, a dish that she judges greek restaurants by: if they attempt to make the dish, it's a decent diner, if it's good, she'll recommend it! Even though the boutari wines have increased their prices, we still recommend naoussa w/ its "dark tart" berry,"xinomavro" as the "go-to" wine for anything avgolemono: it's full, yet balanced tanins velvetize the acid of the lemon sauce.
$16.95
Heerinos Me Tsouxnidia: Braised Pork w/ Nettle Tips
Tender, free-range pork from the southeast food network braised in fresh-squeezed lemon juice, white wine & extra virgin olive oil & simmered w/ nettle tips just pushed up through the soil.Served w/ a chunk of wisconsin cow's milk feta. We still prefer this dish w/ the dry, full-bodied rose, kleoni; it seems to ignite the dish w/ light
$14.95
Mythos red beer $11 per glass
Vatistas roditis (white) $11 per glass
Naoussa grand reserve $11 per glass
Briam: An Oven-Bake of Garden Vegetables
Tender first growth zucchini, eggplant, potatoes & red bells roasted w/ our own dried, yes, local & organic herbs, mint, basil, & chili peppers for a delectably rich & satisfying meal. Served w/ a chunk of wisconsin cow's milk feta cheese. Vegan option, please ask for a garnish of calamata olives. We have paired this w/ mythos red beer, vatistas roditis (white) or naoussa grand reserve (11/gls) you choose.

We arrived for a late lunch and the place was practically empty. But our waitress was quietly friendly, quick to take our orders & made sure our water glasses were kept full. The grape leaf appetizer was a bit salty for my taste, but my...More

We've enjoyed this restaurant for many years. Last night was a disaster, however--from start to finish. First, although we had a reservation, we had to argue with the staff to get a table away from the cold wind blowing in the front door--even though there...More

I ate here with three friends. It is a very small restaurant; the sign is so faded you might walk right past it. (Actually one in our party really did walk past it.) The seating is limited. Everything I ate there was excellent - I'd...More

Everywhere there are Greeks, there are Greek restaurants but this is different. Gardens of Salonica owners raise the bar and take their cuisine and wine list seriously. I've traveled throughout Greece and at Gardens, you'll enjoy dishes and flavors that are as close to what one can get if not in Greece. Skip the fries and gyros...they're good, but why go with something you can get pretty much anywhere now. Dive into...More

Thought it was a very expensive meal for a plate of greasy french fries/linguini and dry roasted chunks of meat. ($73 for 2) Charged me extra for asking for a little extra sauce. Will not go back.
