If this is your first visit you of course will have the lobster roll. You might want to try the Smack Shack original on greens. There seemed to be more lobster in this option than on the roll. Both were excellent and the price is...More

The title says it all. I would eat at Smack Shack everyday if I could. I always get the classic lobster roll and a few times I've splurged on the mac and cheese. It's so amazing and delicious. During my last visit we had subpar...More

Love lobster rolls and these were very good. Had the warm Connecticut version with Cajon fries. Fast food place at the airport and very convenient.

If you are allergic to seafood, don't go. Pretty much everything on the menu has shellfish in it and mostly lobster. Very fair pricing. Great outside deck area and a nice selection of microbrews. Relaxed for one, a couple, or a family.

Everything we had was fantastic - the lobster roll has shrunk in recent visits and our server was not happy that our group asked for separate tickets.

9 people in our group. We sat on the patio. Our server was exceptional, she was on top of everything. All our food came out at the same time. No complaints in our group about the food, everything was delicious

First, I was excited to go to this restaurant because the one in Chicago is now closed and I MISS IT! This is not that location. The staff is very nice. However when we went it was a bit windy and chilly and they had...More

Pleasantly surprised at the quality of the lobster rolls here. We ordered two Connecticut style rolls and very much enjoyed them. Lobster rolls in general seem to never be the largest of portion sizes regardless of where they are ordered, but these packed a lot...More

Recently, we were surprised and pleased to discover that there happened to be an available table on the patio. It was a beautiful evening and traffic was crazy, so we didn't have high hopes of even getting a spot. Three of us had lobster, which...More

Our History Although named for the boats used to catch lobster, Smack Shack was launched as a food truck in 2010 serving lobster rolls from a land-locked downtown Minneapolis parking lot. Owner Josh Thoma had a great recipe and a belief that appetite for fresh lobster in the Twin Cities was as strong as any coastal city. Food Truck As the truck menu evolved, so did the relationship between the City of Minneapolis and food trucks. In 2011, new legislation was passed allowing trucks to park at city meters on designated streets, allowing the truck to get out and gain new fans. It could be often found on Marquette Avenue and 7th. With a commercial kitchen within the City of Minneapolis, and the want to continue serving Lobster rolls through the winter months, Smack Shack developed a fortuitous and legendary partnership with The 1029 Bar in Northeast Minneapolis where they still serve today. Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives In December 2010, Smack Shack began cooking out of the kitchen at the 1029 Bar, kicking everything off with a traditional lobster boil in January 2011. The relationship grew and lobster fans as well as local and national media flocked to the 1029 Bar. In November 2011, Guy Fieri and the crew from The Food Network's "Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives" showed up to tape a segment about the truck and the 1029. 603 Washington Avenue As the "Diners, Drive Ins and Dives episode aired in April 2012, plans for the brick and mortar restaurant in a historic building in Minneapolis' North Loop were announced and construction began shortly thereafter. Smack Shack opened on a snowy night in February 2013 and continues to be heralded by fans and food critics as one of Minneapolis' best.
