My family and I have been cruising around chasing the falls and the beach. After a few days of hoteling it up north, we have learned to jump on the dinner train before it gets too late, or busy. My husband discovered the Bear Trap and it was great. When you walked in you knew it would be good food. Not fancy, just friendly and quick. Our server, I believe Matt, took great care of us and recommend the Whitefish, which was caught that day. We loved the fried fish, clam basket, and burgers. All complete with fun decor and tiny toy machines for my little one. Win win definitely will return again.

We are staying in downtown Munising and breakfast options are extremely limited. We found this place and it was worth the drive for a full breakfast menu with home-baked toast and real butter. We each got eggs and bacon — both were cooked perfectly. Coffee was good and real half and half was available. Rhonda was friendly and offered advice on things to do in the area. If you’re looking for more than a breakfast sandwich or pastry, this is the place.

Ate here twice - first as solo couple , then with 6 friends Relatively large dining area so was comfortable with social spacing. . Friendly staff, all wearing masks except older man wandering around talking with apparently the locals. He stayed away from us. Lady cook did great job with grilled ham & cheese's .. chicken dumpling soup is excellent. prices ok for area.

We stopped on Monday the 17th. I had been here before and really looked forward to this again after the long hike to Chapel Falls. Went in with hungry kids in the afternoon and there were only 4 other tables full and 3 waitresses. It took our waitress 35 minutes to realize we were sitting there and she slowly strolled over to get our drink order. The table of 10 who arrived 30 min.after us got their food first. She brought our food, forgot the appetizer, never brought silverware, never refilled drinks, the waitresses we're not in a cheerful mood with customers or each other. The food was not up to par at all and prices jacked up from what I remember. Something was very wrong this time and it's just very sad,

Typical restaurant for the UP area. Food was good, prices were excellent, draft beer was served in a very frosty mug that was much appreciated. Try the lemon Fish beer it is good. Waitress was ok… she did not stop by the table much. Took a little bit for the food but they did have 2 larger parties that had come in just before us.. Good pricing and portions. My chicken salad was very good and fresh. The sandwiches, fries, waffle fries, pickle chips were very good too.

The decor is UP animal hides, the food was ok and service was fine. My husband had a pastey which he said was good, while another table nearby was raving about theirs. My fish was ok. All the bar stools were filled with only a few tables full in the large dining area so you could spread out. The waitress was covering everyone and working hard. We were happy to be patient and enjoy being back in a place that felt locally loved.

Came here with another couple for breakfast since it was recommended by our hotel and it did not disappoint. We all got something different and everything was fantastic. I was the winner with the Bear Paw-a burrito filled with eggs, potatoes, cheese and bacon. The presentation added to it. Highly recommend this restaurant not only for their delicious food but also for the friendly staff.

We stumbled upon the Bear Trap Inn on our route between Munising and Sault Ste Marie. We had not had a chance to sample the Upper Peninsula's speciality - pasties - yet, so when we saw the sign saying "Fresh Hot Pasties", we knew we had to stop. Both my wife and I had the pasties, and they were great! A simple but really filling lunch. Plus, the beer that was recommended to me was quite tasty, too. We were glad we stopped and got to have pasties!

Out of TN and on a tour of the Upper Peninsula, left Grand Marias hunting a breakfast as nothing available in this village. Forty or so miles west we came upon Bear Trap Inn which is a good sized cafe, surrounded by almost nothing. Very comfortable and friendly place. Ordered our usual OJ, eggs (OM), bacon, link sausage, pancakes, toast, potatoes. WOW, what a meal. Not only delicious but we could taste the quality of the food. In these times of rising prices and limited product, this meal was out of the past. No corners cut, just good food. I would drive 50 miles out of the way to dine here again. Bear Trap Inn is A-ok

Service was good, food was mediocre. My husband and I both had pasties which were made of commercial crust filled with frozen chopped carrot and potato and a little meat. No rutabaga, no seasoning, not even salt and pepper. The restaurant should take them off the menu if they don’t want to do them correctly.

Stopped and was hoping for a pasty but could not get served. They were focused on serving alcohol only. When I was finally able to get someone to serve me by calling another person over who was cleaning the tables, I was told that they had no meat pastys and I could only get a vegetable pasty. I started to look at the menu again real quick but both servers walked off again and went back to serving alcohol. When I told the server / bartender that I was ready to order, she shrugged and went back to serving alcohol. Bottom line, if you're there to get drunk, you're fine but if you're hungry, you'll leave that way. We left and went somewhere else.

Ordered fish and partner ordered rib eye. We got the food put down in front of us then waitress realized it was for another table. Picked up the food and sent it to the right table. Finally got are food and instead of a rib eye got pork. So I started on my food before the rib eye came out. Fish was so over cooked had to use a knife to cut it. The rib eye was so tough I had to hold the plate so it could be cut. We couldn't eat much so the dogs where happy.

Worst onion rings. I was so dang hungry I ate them but they were not cooked through. They cost $9.00 so I figured they must be something special. They were not. I didn't think anyone could mess up cooking something frozen from Sysco. Also part of my family didn't get served until everyone else was done eating. Our waitress looked like she was not happy that we were there. If you see this little place and you're hungry . Keep driving.

We were looking for a place to try a pasty, which are all over the UP. We decided to stop here because there was actually a few cars in the parking lot. 🙃 The 2 waitresses were both very friendly and welcoming. I got my beef pasty, and the rest of the family got wings, fish, onion rings. Everything was good and fresh. Pasty has a cute design on top. They also have local beers, drinks, etc. As we sat there, it got busier and busier, when we left there were no tables! (And this was at 2 pm!) Would eat again.
