A quick one-night trip to Port Huron to watch ships. Our room at the Doubletree was great, but the restaurant, not so much. I know that restaurants are struggling with staffing and product, but being a Wednesday afternoon/ evening, they were not very busy. Strike 1:...Too early for dinner when we arrived, but hungry. Went to Freighters for Happy Hour. We ordered the meet and cheese tray. Very disappointing. Although it was fresh, it was salami and cheese straight from a supermarket. We had this appetizer at this place before and it was much more “creative”. Strike 2: We went elsewhere for dinner but back to the hotel as a ship was due to come through soon. Decide to visit Freighters for coffee and dessert . We ordered a bread pudding. It was was served lukewarm with a small dish of half melted ice cream on the side. The bread pudding was at least “day old”, perhaps more. My coffee arrived and it was barely warm. The next time the waiter came by, we asked for a fresh cup. Time went by. The waiter passed our table several times. He finally came back and commented that the coffee should be ready soon. We told him not to bother. Strike 3: Gave them the benefit of the doubt and stopped for breakfast before heading home. We had breakfasted there on a previous visit. Choices were very limited, so we chose the buffet. The food appeared fresh and properly prepared, but it was barely warm. Fortunately, we were able to enjoy fruit and muffins. I stopped at the front desk and mentioned this to the desk clerk as we checked out. She explained that the restaurant was outsourced, but, as of May 1, management was coming back in-house. One…two…three strikes and I am glad to hear that they are OUT!More

I try to have one good meal each day when I'm on a road trip. This was my dinner spot on my first full day. It was nice that it was attached to my hotel. I was seated promptly and my server did great. Refills...are the one thing I always rate them by and I got 2 refills, so it was top notch. I had the Loaded Mac and Cheese, which was excellent. It was very filling, so I passed on a dessert, but they looked good. The cost was a little above average, but being solo, I had no budget, so it was fine. The quality justified the cost.More

Located right next to the Bluewater Bridge with view of St. Clair River channel. Views are good, even from inside. Food is good to excellent, but several mixed drinks featured on the menu weren't available for lack of ingredients, which was disappointing. Restaurant is attached...to Hilton DoubleTree Hotel which is convenient.More

We sat outside and had a nice view of the river. The patio is dog friendly so we took our four legged family member. We got appetizers and meals. The calamari and spinach dip were both very good. The apprizer serving size was small. For...our meals we had the fish tacos and loaded mac and cheese. The taco meal comes with three tacos and tortilla chips. The tacos are huge. They were excellent. You can’t go wrong with ordering these. Our daughter got the loaded mac and cheese. The portion size was big. It consisted of vegetables and chicken and cheese. She said it was very good. The portion size was big enough that she had leftovers for some to go, The service was very good. We would definitely go back.More

We had nine of us in our group. The view and atmosphere were great. Our waitress was overworked but was friendly and did a good job. Drinks were good. Food was mediocre and the portions were small. Worth a visit for the view and drinks.

I was staying at the Double Tree Hilton and the Freighters Eatery & Taproom is in the hotel. We ate there several times and were always provided great service. The Freighters has a wonderful view of the St. Clair River and looking out into Lake...Huron and the bridge between the U.S. and Canada. Decent tap beer selection and menu. We tried several dishes and they were average. We loved the fried pickles. Best we ever had.More

Had lunch and breakfast here two different days, the employees were always pleasant and the food was very good. Price is reasonable. Nice patio to sit and enjoy the water.

We ate at this weekend twice while staying at the adjoining hotel. We loved the restaurants atmosphere, music, food, wait staff and the wonderful view of the freighters! We had dinner and breakfast here. The atmosphere for dinner was upbeat with great music playing with...families, couples and friends dining and catching the freighters going by. We had breakfast which they currently only serve on the weekends right now and the atmosphere was relaxing with more relaxing music. I would definitely visit this restaurant again, the staff was friendly and took care of everything we needed.More
