The best thing is that this place has comfortable couches. The menu looks really good, but the food is oké. It has enough taste but it's not made properly (fresh made burrito and bread aren't done yet, should be longer in the oven). Besides that,...More

One of the only places in town to get a western meal. We love Lao food but sometimes you just want a pizza, Bamboo Lounge do decent pizzas (but not amazing) with plenty of toppings and definitely satisfied our cravings after returning from a 2...More

Burrito and cocktail was absolutely delicious! Bamboo is a training restaurant which trains people with no prior English, education or food preparation knowledge. Staff were so polite and hard-working. A great place which supports the local community and rural ethnic minorities. The restaurant also supports...More

I ordered a few dishes with mixed results... First, the yogurt wit fresh fruit and muesli: they wee very generous with the fruit, but stingy on the rest. And the yoghurt tasted a bit off. Second, the toast: Really good white bread toast for lao...More

The food, the ethical ideals, the programme to help locals enhance English and cooking skills. More businesses should use this business model. One of the most amazing burritos I've ever eaten. Fast Wi-Fi. Great music. Lovely chairs. Meet fellow travellers and give your money to...More

Lovely place, comfy sofas and armchairs, nice staff, neither cheap nor stupidly expensive (Luang Namtha. seems to be an expensive place - we live in Vientiane and I thought it would be cheaper here, but no). We had a burrito and a vegetarian sandwich (tofu,...More

I had only a short encounter with Bamboo Lounge, but I simply cannot and will not forget it! We met a fellow Canadian on our way to the bus station and he invited us to join him for breakfast at Bamboo Lounge. He recommended the...More

Nice initiative with good food. The home made toast was delicious and the setting was cousy and secluded even though the main street is right outside. The free guide about free stuff to do in Luang Namtha while not trekking was appreciated as a backpacker.

What is in this Jungle Berry Jam? It is amazing. If you visit (and you should) make sure you try the Jungle Berry Jam.

Description
We use authentic delicious western food to empower the local community. Food you're craving from home with a combination of fresh local ingredients and imported specials such as real cheese, bacon, olives from our nearest supermarket 7 hours and an international border crossing away. We have woodfired pizzas, Italian pastas and risottos, big breakfasts, awesome sandwiches, real espresso and top notch cocktails. All our staff are local ethnic minority people with no prior English language, food preparation or customer service skills. They come to work with us to learn English and how to work in the hospitality industry. Our profit is donated to the Luang Namtha Books In Schools program to increase the number of textbooks in the local schools from the current 1 per 3 students to everyone having their own set of textbooks. So far we've donated over 2,800 textbooks to local students. Come in to our training restaurant to help us support northern Laos!
