We went to the dance program in Detroit and found we were hungry afterwards. We pulled into Hunter House and found it filled and busy at 11 pm at night. A couple dressed to the 9s speaking Italian, young people, middle aged and us a senior couple looking for a quick meal. The parking lot sported a solid list of... More

I am very careful about what I eat, but then there's Hunter House, the place my husband has been going to since childhood. Now our three teens beg to go. I am also not an eat-two-cheeseburgers kind of person, but at Hunter House I am. This is the place to pull out all the stops! HH is a treat! We... More

Love taking my family here for a meal, it is always consistent. Out of town family always ask if we can make a stop during their trips. My go to is the double cheese burger with EXTRA grilled onions- just heavenly.

It has been a long time (about 28 years) since I last sat at the Hunter House counter for a meal. I have good memories of the time when I worked in downtown Birmingham within walking distance of this iconic place. I briefly made it back to Michigan and decided see what today's version of the HH was like. When... More

Very good old fashioned hamburgers with fresh grilled onions. No wonder this place has been in Birmingham for so many years.

Finally, after living in the area for 40+ years, I tried the Hunter House. It was awesome! Double cheese burger w/ grilled onions and pickle, french fries and chocolate shake. It was everything I hoped - greasy goodness! The staff were friendly and the service was quick. The price was reasonable (double my order noted above - 2 of us... More

Picture White Castle with better tasting burgers that don't feel as if they have been sitting under a heat lamp for hours. Iconic restaurant with outstanding greasy spoon food

I was in Birmingham for work and stayed across the street from Hunter House. It's a throwback to the diners of the past. Small menu featuring burgers, fries and great shakes. Fun eating records hang on the wall for adults and kids to try to beat. Really reasonable prices and friendly staff make this a great stop for families. I'll... More

You'll need at least two of the smaller sized hamburgers to make up for one. The smell of fried onions greet you when walking in the door. Grab a stool and include some fries with your burger. You can be in and out in fifteen minutes
