Without a doubt, the best place to sit is at the bar around the active kitchen area. From this vista you will be enthralled by the detailed preparation of each dish - including the tiniest of herbs and ingredients applied with tweezers by the skilled hands of incredible chefs. No challenge is too much as we proved a couple of... More

My wife and I have been going to Journeyman for years and it is one of our absolute favorites. It's a bit too expensive to be a regular joint but we try to celebrate as many special occasions there as we can. The food is flat out outstanding- it is creative, thoughtful, locally sourced and ever changing so every experience... More

The space is industrial chic with high ceilings and nice touches of plants and woven branches to break up the hardness of the space. We arrived just after 6 and left nearly three hours later after our adventure in food. The service, the food and the wines were wonderful and interesting. There was a nine course fixed dinner. I had... More

The first time I've been their, it was cooked by Chef Tru. That was excellent. 6 months later I went there the chef was another guy, it was on workday, not many customers there, the food was really sorry and service was lack. I was disappointed.

My wife and I went to the Journyman as a wedding gift. The Journyman has a 9 course fixed menu. It's about $120/person. There is also one that adds matched wines. The Journyman does a tasting menu, which means smallish dishes carefully made. We didn't think we would be full, but by the end of the meal we were both... More

Very elaborate cuisine with organic ingredients. Good food but very slow and somewhat laid back service. The fixed salary system without tips is obviously not a recipe for good service.

We were greeted by our low-key host, who proceeded to take care of us throughout the evening in the most attentive, but unobtrusive way. For three hours we were enchanted by each dish as it arrived, paired with wines recommended by the chef. The food is creative and beautifully displayed. Nothing we were served was something we could ever dream... More

If you are visiting family in the Boston area and can find Somerville and have family who want to make sure you have a great dining experience, then you can't do better than here. The sweet potato was the best. Eggs and toast too. Highly recommend.

Out of the way, sparsely populated, fix price $$$, lots of courses tasting menu only, local ingredients, meticulously prepared and presented, interesting taste combos and plate sequence, great service, wonderful wine pairings, definitely a destination.

We've been here several times. This time some NYC friends specifically requested a return visit. They reserved the places for dinner. We were seated in the center of the restaurant, which is much noisier than seating along the walls. Something to remember for next time. The menu lived up to the New Yorkers' expectations-- inventive, tasty, visually attractive, off-beat. There... More
