We popped in here on a whim, sat at the downstairs bar and raised our expectations after viewing the menu and atmosphere. But, unfortunately, several things went downhill from there. I chose a Belgian red-brown beer from the bev menu, since I wasnt really thrilled...More

I travel a lot for work, often eating solo. Ceia's food is creative, fresh, & delicious. Service was highly professional, responsive, & sensitive to individual preferences. Charming environment with lovely instrumental music that was congruent with the atmosphere.

Everything was beyond just well done at Ceia this past Sunday. There were many options for egg dishes, in addition to a fairly extensive lunch menu. We started with the special donuts of the day, which were almost fluffy and drizzled with a salty carmel...More

Noticed the specials so I was drawn in. Sat at bar and had a fabulous white wine and the most amazing soup and sandwich. The pork belly and cabbage sandwich was fabulous! The split pea soup was fresh, homemade and not to be missed. Service...More

We chose to vsiit Ceia on a rainy day, hoping for a lovely, cozy lunch. The first-floor dining room was cool, though quiet and nicely arranged. I was a bit surprised by the menu, as it included only one soup (mushroom and rutabaga), a series...More

Was here for a big party. Food was okay but trouble was after the gathering as we stayed at the bar for drinks. My SO ordered a wine and was told the wine he wanted wasn't available. Okay, what do you have? Suddenly a wine...More

Came here for dinner based on reviews, sat at the bar to watch Sunday night football while having a drink and dinner. Menu offerings were so elaborate that we couldn't tell what we were ordering so we ended up having a drink and ate elsewhere.....More

My friend and I had a 7:30 reservation on a weeknight, and when we arrived we were given a choice of where to sit. We decided on the third floor. The menu is limited but interesting. We both ordered the 'signature' burgers which were cooked...More

Our Innkeeper recommended Ceia's, it was dead of winter and hardly anybody out. Ceia's was warm and inviting and quite romantic. Our waiter was very helpful in choosing wines for the evening and we had a wonderful meal. Well presented food, tasty and in perfect...More

I don't know if the restaurant is open for Easter. As for nut allergies, I think the kitchen would be very attentive to any special requests or needs. There were not any dishes that I remember having peanuts. Almonds... More

Description
Where laughter is required. Jacket & tie are not. Going out with friends or a special someone means choosing a neighborly place that feels as comfortable as home, where conversation flows as easily as a smooth cabernet. Welcome to Ceia Kitchen + Bar. A new kind of nightlife in the heart of Downtown Newburyport, introducing this area"s first extended kitchen hours for later night dining or tete-a-tete cocktails with flavorful small plates. Our exposed brick interior with mellow lighting, cozy banquets and featured cocktail bar beckon even impromptu visits to this reliable neighborly eatery where singles, dates and a posse of good friends are assured of a comfortable night out with delicious food and great company. The spirit of Ceia (pr. SAY-yah) is in the translation of our name: "supper" in Portuguese, the language of one country included among the inspiring stops of our coastal European culinary repertoire.
