Book well ahead for dinner on Saturday night! This is a popular place. We'd never been and were delighted. A very upbeat atmosphere, but you didn't have to shout to make yourself heard -- something that's getting harder to find! The server knew the wine list inside out and was great all around. The manager came over to say hello.... More

The place is just lovely, but the menu is very expensive. We had appetizers and drinks here. The appetizers were ok, but not really for the money spent.

Dinner on a Saturday night is not my favorite way to try a restaurant for the first time, but I went ahead and gave Ceia a try this weekend. I'll be back! The ambiance is lovely, if you are partial, as I am, to exposed brick and burnished woodwork. The banquettes look like restored church pews, but they cannot possibly... More

The owners vision for this upscale food and wine bistro has been masterfully expressed with the warm dining area and cozy bar. The wine selection is excellent and pairing with the artful food is wonderful. I love Paul on the bar! My one and only criticism would be the number of choices on the menu can be limited thought they... More

They were hosting a bday party upstairs so we sat at the bar. The service was extremely slow and the food was bad. The bartender returned the wrong credit card to us twice and didn't give us an itemized receipt but by that time we were so cranky from low blood sugar, the long wait, and bad food, that we... More

Candace - sorry you were disappointed with your experience but after reading your review with you staff- my bartender remembered having you at the first floor bar. To our understanding you didn't order any food. I imagine by saying bad you actually ate it. Can we connect to further discuss your experience- I would like to make sure our staff... More

Very small and quaint setting. The food is excellent and the menus is up scale. We go for special occasions just us.

We (mom, dad, 12 yo son) stopped in on a Saturday and felt lucky to get a table, but were seated upstairs. The food was very nice. I had the duck. Very tasty. The drinks and beer selection was very good. The service was friendly and efficient. This is not the cheapest place in town, but the food quality and... More

We stopped at Ceia just by chance walking the streets of Newburyport on January 2nd. It appeared to be a nicely appointed establishment with an interesting menu. The restaurant was almost empty when we arrived for an early dinner. This allowed for a choice table and excellent service. The menu is very interesting, but is also quite pricey based upon... More

Went here for our anniversary because our fave restaurant Loretta was having their one year anniversary party and altho' we were invited-we were looking for something more intimate and quiet that night. Figured we try Ceia. Service was great. Food was okay-not great and frankly-I think 11$ for 6 tiny pieces of pasta as a appetizer is outrageous. The funny... More

Ceia is a beautifully appointed restaurant with the loveliest servers. I have been there three times recently. They were all underwhelming. This is the kind of place I used to come for a cozy experience in a warm environment yet for a hearty meal , inspired in Iberian culinary traditions. The last three experiences have unfortunately convinced me to never... More

Description
Where laughter is required. Jacket & tie are not. Going out with friends or a special someone means choosing a neighborly place that feels as comfortable as home, where conversation flows as easily as a smooth cabernet. Welcome to Ceia Kitchen + Bar. A new kind of nightlife in the heart of Downtown Newburyport, introducing this area"s first extended kitchen hours for later night dining or tete-a-tete cocktails with flavorful small plates. Our exposed brick interior with mellow lighting, cozy banquets and featured cocktail bar beckon even impromptu visits to this reliable neighborly eatery where singles, dates and a posse of good friends are assured of a comfortable night out with delicious food and great company. The spirit of Ceia (pr. SAY-yah) is in the translation of our name: "supper" in Portuguese, the language of one country included among the inspiring stops of our coastal European culinary repertoire.
