Not sure why this place gets such rave reviews. Food barely represents real Italian. In Italy "huge portions" do not exist.

Carmella's, which has recently reopened after last year's fire is the best Italian option that we have in the area. which isn't to say that it's the best Italian. It's not like eating in the North End and nothing like eating in Italy; it's "American Italian". However, the food is still good, it's always busy with a large loyal following,... More
We had a group birthday party there last night (14 of us). The Wednesday night special for 2 at $39.99 is incredible. They offer a huge list of "reduced fare" meals for TWO with a bottle of (long list) wine. The meals were cooked to perfection, delivered by our super pleasant server, and in most cases, as much, to too... More
We've been to Carmela's a million times and what I find is that it is consistently inconsistent. It is almost always busy because there just are not enough restaurants in the area. If you are looking for something a step above a chain/ kid style restaurant but also not a fancy expensive dinner, Carmela's is one of your only options... More
This was our second visit to Carmella's and without any hesitation I would recommend this lovely Italian bistro to anyone wishing for a great meal and super friendly staff. On this trip we enjoyed the smaller fare broccoli and fettuccini alfredo (home made pasta) and the veal Parmesan. Both were excellent and we love the option for a lighter fare.... More
First visit -no booths- was a busy night - the host was not the best and you got the feeling that since there were only 2 of us -he was "bumping"us -waitress was nice -Veal parm was very good - would go back but would not go out of my way to do so

Drinks were ordered and served as requested. There was no rushing us, and food came out as ordered. The veal parm was outstanding with plenty of meat as... More

Absolutely delicious Italian fare at a great price. The Wednesday evening special, dinner for 2 with a bottle of wine for $40, was delicious and a great value.
