We set out for the Clam Box in Ipswich;, however, it was closed on a Tuesday. So, we headed down Rt. 133 toward Essex. I had driven by Essex Seafood several times and had wondered if it was any good. It wasn't. I were ordered...More

Essex Seafood is very reliable for steamed lobster, lobster rolls, and enormous yummy seafood platters. Very casual. We usually bring a cooler so we can pick up fish from their market to prepare at home. One of our favorites.

This unassuming little spot was recommended to us by the front desk staff at the hotel where we were staying in Gloucester and it was one of the highlights of our extended weekend on Cape Ann. Order at a window and wait to hear your...More

Hadn't been to real Fried Clam Country in years and had to get a fix. This was the place to do that. Pricey but worth every penny. What a wonderful meal. The clams were so tender and the coating was just enough not to overwhelm...More

I polled people on Facebook for their favorite fish and chips place. Everybody, all the locals, that is, said Essex Seafood. Very fresh fish, classical ( but lightly) fried, and efficient service. Go hungry though. The portions are quite generous.

I'll be back. I just had to have clams, but the lines at the other joints in town were too long. Just as I was driving out of town, I saw Essex Seafood, so I swung in to find a smaller line, quick service and...More

I have been to Essex Seafood twice recently and both times were great. I got the same thing both times because it was so good. It was their special, popcorn haddock and it was delicious. It comes with your choice of fries or onion rings....More

I only allow myself one seafood plate per year, so it's disappointing when they aren't so great. At Essex Seafood, the clams were tender, the fries were crisp and flavorful and the onion rings were sweet. They are generous with the tartar sauce. Although they...More
